Just Get On and Do It

Just lately, I've not been having a good time of things. There are a lot of personal reasons which I won't go into but they resulted in a bad bout of depression. Now I know some people don't understand depression as it's not something that's easily visible unless you live with the person all the time.

Now today, I'd like to talk to anybody who may be suffering, as I am, with depression. You see, one of the best treatments for depression is routine. Having regular times to do things like sleep, eat, exercise, etc.. So what I've done is I've put my first site on the back burner and turned my depression into my reason to be at my PC researching and writing and (at my doctor's suggestion) I've turned this big negative in my life into a positive.

This is how my new site was born. Turning a negative into a positive while trying to help others. Please feel free to take a look and pass on some feedback - it's www.diaryofadepressedman.com. My aim is that it will bring some understanding to this illness that affects around 25% of people in the western world at any given time. Already, I'm attracting visitors - thanks mum! lol

I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes, no matter what, you just have to get on do it. And if you do it, becomes easier, and easier still and then you can slide it into your routine just as easy as going for a walk (which my doctor also recommended!).

And when I need a boot in the back of my seat there's always this fantastic WA community, ready to post an inspiring blog just when I need it the most.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Richard.

Depression can really hold us back. I am glad you found a way to help yourself.

Hi Betty.

In my experience successful people always find a way round that which holds them back, and some even turn it into a reason to achieve their success.

That's what I'm trying to do now.

What a great way to overcome your problem.

Thank you Gordi.

I was told a long time ago that for every obstacle there's a way to get by.

Hi Richard, thanks for yr honesty & sharing. For me routine is also very important & I find if I don't stick to it, I get nothing done.

Good luck to you.

Lydia.

Thank you Lydia.

I find that, especially with men, it's not something that's openly discussed.

But in this business, routine is important to everybody, doing things on a daily basis that others will not.

That's what sets apart leaders from everybody else.

Richard.

Hang in there. I love to read your posts...John

Thanks John. It's always good to know there are people about for support. Richard.

It is difficult to take action sometimes when one feels so overwhelmed by everything. I applaud the courageous post you put up and thereby showed your vulnerability.

Couple quick things about your site:
--you should add images as you continue building it
--break some of your paragraphs up into digestible chunks that are easier to read. Numbers or bullets help as well.

If you want to get others to take a look and offer suggestions then you can post it here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/getting-started/please-give-me-feedback-on-my-website

HI Rick.

Thanks for the feedback.

I always look forward to constructive criticism - I'm already looking at getting some images up but I'm being careful there as that can be a minefield, both with subject and copyright.

As for paragraph lengths, I will read over again and break it down to make more easily read.

Thank you again,

Richard.

I am sorry that you have had and continue to have such a tough time, but I'm glad you're being able to put your experiences to good use. It's great that as a man you're speaking out because so many keep quiet about it.

I had a look at your site and you write really well. At some time in the future it would be nice if you also added some pictures.

Good luck

Beverley

HI Beverley.

Thanks for the feedback. I always like to get constructive feedback as it can get you to see things you didn't see or consider before.

As for the tough time, well that's life but you are correct it that not many men will consider speaking about things like this when it is themselves - maybe that's why the suicide rate for men is around 3x higher than for women, and I guess that's a big part of it.

I'm working on the photos over the next few days - I belong to the local photography club so am going to try and get some donation from other members :D If you don't ask you don't find out!

Thanks again,

Richard.
