I recently visited My Granddaughter and I had the best time with Her. She is 14 years old right now. When She was in 2nd grade the students was fixing to go on their yearly summer vacation. The teacher has made it a yearly thing for Her to buy a few baby turtles for the classroom to learn these neat little fellas habits, likes, and dislikes. Well, the day when the kids will be on vacation she allows for a few of the children to take the pet turtles home for the summer. Well, You know where this is going...my Granddaughter had the private to take "Henry" home. She loved Taking care of Him and apparently got pretty attached to Him, so the following School year she asked Her teacher is He could remain with Her. Here it is about 7 years later and He is still part of their family. How neat! He was about the size of a .50 cent coin originally and now He is approx. 5" in length. We did some research on red striped turtles and a found out We did name Henry correctly.

Yes, He is a little fella, but so darling. Thanks for reading My story.

I've heard that turtles can live for 100 years. They're pretty amazing creatures!

Can You belive they live so long. Geez! Thank You for sharing. I hope You have a good night.

You know, in Chinese, there is a term Guishou, meaning live as long as turtles. The turtle is one of the animals you never want to hurt because it is supposed to be sacred and is the symbol of longevity. It is believed that the potential lifespan of a turtle can be as long as a thousand years. In Daoist art, the turtle is even used as the emblem of the triad of earth-humankind-heaven. Sounds amazing, isn't it? So, the turtle is a treasurable animal.
