The Wealthy Affiliate SCAM or not
an Open letter to any newbie wondering if this works and if they should sign up
What I wish, I knew a year ago. This is my story so far.
Out there. Away from Wealthy Affiliate.
I have spent so much time buying really thin and weak $7 Pdf's. That makes that big golden promise of $1000 days, guaranteed. Siting glazed staring at my bright laptop screen. The buy button pulsating on the screen. This inner feeling of " Maybe this is it" You know that feeling don't you?
So I check my measly bank balance, Take a deep breath.
" So there goes dinner for the last week of the month..
I guess I will go for dinner at the folks then"
Know this feeling ? Really? How many times have you done that. ?
And how many times was it a disappointment?
How many times did you think. Sh*t Why did I buy that?
Really? is that all they are giving me?
It's not so much, That those $7 pdf's are scams.
But 9/10 times it's unrelated to what I am busy with. Or way above my level of understanding.
Then I found this place. Wealthy Affiliate.
I logged in. Did the 6 day trail and left it for a year. can you believe that -FACEPALM
To have a look around. I Decided I will learn on my own. I left for an entire year going back to the online wilderness
What a mistake. A HUGE Mistake.
Perhaps a blessing in disguise.
I did learned in depth, At cost. Much More, Than the premium membership.
* Hosting and Wordpress
* Why I need SSL how to install it.
* Making FB fan pages and Social tabs ( That doesn't work in mobile)
* learned Advertising platforms FB/Bing/Twitter/Linkedin
* learned some CPA marketing techs
* Worked through 3 auto responder services. and settled on one
* Learned to build landing pages.
* Learned how click bank works and how to get it working
* Built a Amazon page for the weirdest niche "Cigar humidors" * -Palm to face
* Then I stared building mobile landing pages
* Leaned what conversions are and how to look at stats.
* Learned that I need proper tracking software for real big time marketing in CPA
and Much Much More.. The list just goes on and on.
You know what is the WORST PART form my adventure out there away from Wealthy Affiliate. I worked alone. I did not meet any one. I DID NOT MAKE ANY MONEY.. Not a single dime. In fact I spent close to $1000
On ppv,ppc,fb,linkedin twitter. Just to learn the platforms.
I didn't even know what I was doing.
NOT A DIME
Want to get some real information? That is step by step.
Without any Up sells to useless products. Want to learn Step by Step.
What you will learn at Wealthy Affiliate.
* How to go about affiliate marketing.
* Training in class form.
* Get Certified as an Affiliate marketer.
* Get access to a Awesome community.
* Build a network of friends and colleges.
* Build as many websites as is needed.
* Build your future.
All you need is your will to succeed and your focus to stay with Wealthy Affiliate.
This is most certainly standing on a very strong, Rock solid Foundation. with plenty of proof. Start speaking to some of the people and you will realise that this is the place to be. This is the most fertile ground to plant that seed of believing that your effort is spent well.
The best part of all. If you keep at it. You will make money, That is just how it works. Do the training, Build your network. Build your site. and keep at it. Just keep on keeping on and you will make it guaranteed. Yes there will come times of doubt and wonder. But in my experience, Those are the tests, How badly do you want the laptop lifestyle? When in doubt. Pick up your head, Speak to some motivated people. Take the advice. Lift your head and Keep working. You can do it. So If you are wondering.
This is, Hands down. Most certainly the best option for a Newbie to Affiliate marketing.
If you are still a free member, Like I was for an entire year. Spending $250 on my own host . $80 on a ssl Certificate $40 on site backup, Learning on my own with no support not making any money... think again.
Wealthy Affiliate is all you need to get started. Unsubscribe from all the other marketers that you are subscribed to. Because you are on their list. That means you are money to them. So get off it and focus on building your own empire.
If you are a free member. I sincerely urge you
to drop everything else
that is not related. That distracts you.
That pulls you in so many different directions
and just sign up for premium and go for it.
You can do it.
This is my pledge after a year. I am back, I realise what I have missed. I will not let this chance slip again. I will work at this without distractions. I will do the course and become certified. I will build a network. I will help people. I will build a successful website. and I will make Money. i will forge that famed laptop lifestyle.

Nice post! I would change the title though, maybe put it in the form of a question because at first blush, the title makes it look like you're saying that WA is a scam. All the best!
Don't promise yourself that there will be no distractions. Just make sure you treat them appropriately.
Good post...thanks for the perspective. I'm a brand-new newbie...and jumped right into Premium.
Fun read...now water under the bridge. I am very happy for you as now your focus will be on what has worked and is working for so many. I have yet to make money ( a couple of starts and stops with family illness and family challenges but never dropped WA along the way) at this but like you I totally believe that it WILL happen.

I nearly had the urge to do the same thing but realized that it is the community that provides the most value to WA. I don't see that anywhere else.
Im so easily distracted with the need to know everything. It drives me nuts somedays. But I will stick with this now.. I do have some other ventures in mind but this will be step one.
