You have probably heard me talk about me becoming a CNA sometime next year (Hopefully) But you have not heard me say why I want to do this job, which some say is very hard to do or it's emotionally draining for you, I don't really care about all of the "side effects"

Years ago When I was helping my mom take care of my grandpa I was thinking of becoming a respiratory therapist, but then I saw how much time I would be in college (And I don't like school much as it is with me being in high school right now) And if I had to do that much school I would have dropped out within weeks. My mom knows that I would not do all the work it required. So, when my grandpa was in the Hospital I saw what the CNA was doing, A great job by the way! So I talked to my mom about me becoming a CNA too! And we found a school near me in Orlando and it was for only 6 weeks for me! I was like Yes!! this is perfect for me! and here is why.

First off, it's only six weeks for me being in this school and it's close to my home so I would not have to go like an hour for school.

The second part is. I want this job! and no I don't want to have this job so I am known as a "Lifesaver" But I had an experience in a nursing home with my grandpa where he wasn't treated right and I thought, If I worked there (At the place he was at) it would help the others there would be going through the same thing he went through.

Becoming a CNA is the job that I think God made me for! I feel good when I am helping the elderly with anything. My church would even go to nursing homes and one time

There was a time when someone in a nursing home would ask me for help and then I felt like, something in me was saying 'Rebekah now is the time help them out" and Now I know that wasn't my head but my heart that was telling me to help those who can't help themselves.

See right there! I had that "instinct" to help her out, I didn't give it a second thought at all. This is why I want to help others out! I love to be helpful to those around me. When I talk to someone who is older I feel great talking to them but, with my own age group (who are 20) I just feel so wired like um..ok then lol, My mom knows this for a fact. I have talked to her about me talking to someone my age and how it's like dude I don't understand what your saying. but, with the elderly, I feel like I can chat with them all day.

When I finish school and become a CNA I will be oh so happy knowing that Grandpa is smiling at me seeing me helping others like him out.

I'm doing this school and job in honor of his life.

And I can't see myself doing any other job than this one. I have talked to my mom about this job through the years and she agrees that this job Is for me and I can't wait to start school next year.

Have a great day.

P.S. The picture below is of my dear Grandpa And his dog Mickey

Hello Rebekah! CNA's are very much needed today and especially those who are passionate about it. Seeing how you are really passionate about it, I think you will make a great CNA one day! Can't wait to hear about more updates and stories from you! I am sure your grandpa will be proud of you for seeking this path too!

Hello, Thank you for the kind words, Mike. I do love the thought of being a Nurse even if it's a CNA it still counts as a nurse and I do love thinking of helping out others :)

Your Grandpa would be so proud of you! While he was actually in rehab (not a true nursing home) he did rely quite a bit on our help and you certainly were there for him each day! I know he appreciated your help in the hospital, too, during our stay there.

I believe you will be among the most caring and attentive of the CNA's-- one that your beloved Grandpa will forever cherish!

Sorry, forgot what it was called, oops.

Thank you, mom, you're so sweet to say that.

Hi Rebekah, welcome to the nursing family. I was a CNA when I was 16 years old. Long time ago in my youth, like you I was passionate about helping people. From there, I went on to Nursing School, worked towards my RN Degree then worked in OB/GYN neonatal care. I loved it so much but they fired me because I could not hear. At that time I was losing my hearing due to congenital deafness passed down fifth generation in my family and we all use American Sign Language (ASL). You might come across working with deaf patients so if you know sign language that would be a great asset. I worked in geriatrics until I decided I was done with nursing because this was before the American Disabilities Act passed. I guess I was born in wrong era. I hope you consider becoming a nurse.I loved nursing so much. I sure do missed it. I changed my career to social work and worked in several Deaf group homes with developmental disabilities until my retirement. I am retired. I am elated to see your passion here. Healthcare needs good caring workers.

Thank you very much, I do love your story. I was thinking of an LPN as well but I saw how much schooling it came with. But thanks for reading, I will be very happy to be a CNA :)

I do hope to hear more from you as well. I have followed you just to see what you're doing and to get to know you more, Thanks.

Thanks for the follow. Hope you find your passion on this site. Look forward to seeing more of your blogs. We have many nurses on here. You can connect with NnurseBecca, if you haven't already. Take care stay safe and healthy.

That's great to know that you like helping people. Specially the old or seniors. It is a really good quality in person.

If you like it to the moon, go for it.
In life you should really go after what you like. Not other people's recommendations because doing what you like won't feel like work. It will feel like fun beside learning.

Hope it helps,

Meena

thats exactly what I was saying in my post! lol, thank you, Meena for such words of wisdom
