Did you know Faten Hamama?
She was called "Lady of the Arabic screen," "Star of the Century," and Egypt's "National Treasure”. Faten Hamama was one of Agypt's greatest actresses!
Hamama was not yet ten years old when she began her career in cinema. She has starred in more than a hundred films and has collaborated with some of the greatest Egyptian directors, including Youssef Shaheen.
She has often played with her former husband, Omar Sharif, who embraced Islam in order to marry her. The couple then divorced, while the actor, who was already famous in Egypt, began his career at Hollywood.
But that did not prevent Omar Sharif from characterizing her as the only love of his life.

The career of Faten Hamama, one of the characters in the Egyptian cinema's golden age, reached its peak between 1950-1970.
She played just as well in romantic comedies, mostly as the Arabian song "crown", the famous Abdel Halim Hafez, as well as in militant films, supporting the rights of women and denouncing social inequalities. In her 1964 film, The Open Door it is highlighted the need for women's rights. In "I Want a Solution" (1975,) she paved the way for changes to Egyptian marriage and divorce laws.
This was definitely a career of influence!
