You can use a plugin, you can buy landing pages, you can make landing pages...
The most important of a landing page is that you give something to the visitor that is interesting for him/her and that they have to give their mail address to you instead...
And so you build a mail list...

When I go into my dashboard my comments are clearly there for me to read. They have been approved but don't show up for my visitors to read?

The guestbook is showing snippets of the comments.
s far as your website comments, there could be several reasons they are not showing. Take a look at this and check to see if yours are on Enabling and Disabling Comments On WordPress Sites
