My Achilles Heel.Literally!

I have returned to WA after quite a lengthy absence and have received a few comments that seemed to ask the question, "Why have you been here so long, yet seem to have nothing to show for it?" I don't mean to intimate that any of these comments were rude or carried a tone of judgment, that is not the case at all. Yet, I feel that the apparent evidence that I have not moved forward may send a message of fear, doubt and the question, "does this really work?", especially to those who are new to WA. So, rather than tell the story numerous times to those that comment, I have been inspired to overcome my figurative Achilles heel, fear, and post my first blog as a means of explaining my absence and announcing my reemergence to myself if no one else. Although I know from my previous time here, that the amazing members will shower me with inspiration much needed as I begin again from the beginning.

I don't recall which lesson I had reached but it was the one that said, "it's time to build your website." I was ready to buy my domain name and be on my way when my old friends fear and doubt paid me a return visit with bags packed, and it was apparent that they had come for a lengthy stay to make certain that I remembered that I couldn't do this, I couldn't brave new territory, I couldn't possibly have left them behind with a determination and confidence to succeed in this new venture. The words, "begin building your website" seemed to be everywhere like the mask wearing machete yielding monster out of an old horror movie.

Then an entirely new obstacle appeared! And this is where I try to conquer that old cliché, "long story short." Somehow, while living a very active but quite normal lifestyle, I found myself having to accept that my heel bone had to be totally reconstructed and that my Achilles tendon was completely shredded. Now this was not joyful news by any means, but hey we live in an age where people take their first steps within hours of knee, hip or ankle replacement, so how bad could this possibly be?!

Well, after 8 weeks in a cast, my first ever, and another 8 weeks in a storm trooper boot, I realized that this was beyond anything that I could have ever imagined. The physical struggle was one thing but the mental struggle was a powerful battle! Now please don't get me wrong I am not pleading a "whoa is me" or "oh pitiful me" defense. I was very blessed in so many ways and most importantly with friends and family that went above and beyond helping out! But, the bottom line was that I had a business and house, which sold during this time so we also moved to a new home, to run and a child to raise, so the reality was that WA and realizing a long time dream that could no doubt be achieved here had to be put on the back burner.

So, here I am today back at the beginning but with both feet back on the ground and ready to fly. Ready to reconnect with a community that is not only amazing and inspiring but can completely reaffirm on a daily basis that the world is still filled with beautiful people and still offers awe and joy on a daily basis that is ours if we only open our eyes and our hearts and accept! Yes, the story begins again...but this time I get my happy ending!
