Introduction

Good Afternoon to all you lovely people at the wonderful WA Family, as always in these trying times, do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.

Realise that it is Friday and I am doing my weekend blog, just in the mood for a change from what I have been doing.

The title reflects the time that I am having at the moment not only trying to keep going on my Family Tree website, but doing the tasks set by my mentor. Without him being bossy, but very understanding, such as work at your own pace, the tasks are giving a new meaning to internet marketing, and yes I am learning things, with some of my previous knowledge being amplified by the training.

General Update

One of the many things that I have been doing is searching through my hard drive looking for articles, and other bits and pieces to help with my training, doing so I have come across a file or two of quotes, graphics and other such items that I feel will be a help in a number of ways.

Have realised for sometime, that I have not been adding any colour to my blogs, or adding the odd, hopefully meaningful quote. It is my hope that now that I have found these items again, not really lost, just forgotten about, that I will start to use them, cheering up these drab pages.

My training has made me realise, something that I had forgotten, use photographs, graphics, quotes and colour to brighten up those pages.

The Past Few Days

Now that I have my Desk Top Computer back, I have been able to post an article to my Family History Website, without wondering, just what can I write about without upsetting the general thought of what I am trying to achieve.

This was a rather long article on Parish Registers, some 2,500 words in length, however it has been very well-received, judging by the comments which I have had. Even been asked if I could do private work.

As mentioned in the general update have been trawling through the files on the hard drive, looking for articles to help with my training, found stuff that I had forgotten about, also been able to move some to the USB to stop it clogging the hard drive, and taking space up, which I certainly will need, if things go according to plan.

Having just read the last few lines, should point out that my training and project are stored on a separate USB.

"Project", I can imagine you throwing your hands up in horror, not another bright idea that he has had. Not Guilty is my reply, it is work that has been set by my mentor, have to compile a manuscript, video and PowerPoint presentation, using a new and totally independent domain name and website.

This is just the start of the tasks that I have been set, but these will be revealed in the future, when I get there, having finished this first task, which I expect will take a few weeks.

Having got used to the idea, am compiling the manuscript like I do my books, but with added advice, a long way to go, but it is getting to be quite enjoyable.

Have finally started to input some advertising, this is for my other website, which is virtually running itself at the moment, just needs a look at now and then. Talking of advertising am preparing some more, which could see the light of day very shortly. Very aware that people do need to know that I do exist.

The Next Few Days

My training is going to be at the forefront of all that I do from now on, it is the only way that I will succeed with the plan which has been laid out for me, however, right or wrong I will not be neglecting my Family History site, that is pure enjoyment, may not bring in the cash, but if it helps others, then I am happy. At the end of the day it might just start to pay off, one never knows.

Will need to spend a little time on next article, as it needs another check over and a final polish.

It is possible that I could have time to look at the advertising, also check my website that is running along on its own, to check that a tweak is not needed.

Conclusion

Another week that has been fairly productive, but as usual things never move fast enough for me, just far too impatient, also aware that as the nights get lighter that the garden will have to have more attention paid to it. Talking of which have managed to box up some onion sets, these are now in my little plastic greenhouse. One of the trays is for my grandson to give him a start with his new venture.

Before I close, must mention the highlight of the week which took place on Monday, Joshua, our eldest grandson, was ordered to take a day off from working at home, bless him, he spent an hour with us, several metres apart at the front door. It was lovely to see him as it has been a few months since he was last able to call, he did leave with a few packets of seeb

Coupled with Kyle our other grandson coming with his Dad on Sunday, it has cheered us both up no end. We are lucky that people can visit and stay a safe distance apart, our daughter also came on Sunday.

Be Happy, Healthy and Wealthy.

Please do stay safe,

God Bless

Stuart

Your VH

Hi Stuart, I enjoyed reading your blogs every now and then. I did not respond to them as I did not have time to respond to many bloggers on WA.

Your blog about family tree research is interesting. I just wished I had more time to delve myself into it but I don’t.

On my Dad’s side, his parents descendants were both from Ireland and UK.

The family moved to New York City, of course by ship across the Atlantic. Later to Albany, New York then to Minnesota.

My parents and their parents were trying to find the link of where did the deafness gene come from. My Dad’s side recessive gene for deafness was prominent. My mothers side family tree is all mired in different descendants from the Scandinavian to the Native Americans.

My Mom’s side dominated gene of deafness remains stronger than the recessive gene. This is why I am Deaf and so are my siblings. My Mom is Deaf and is a British Royal family history buff. On her book shelf, there are thousands of books about the history of the British Crown. The deafness gene in the Royal family are due to intermarrying first cousins. Prince Phillip’s (I hope his health is improving by now) mother was deaf, she used British Sign Language (BSL). We know that the Queen and Phillip are distant cousins that helped ward off the deafness gene.

I am glad you are able to visit with family and remain socially distanced, its been a hard year worldwide for everyone.

Hi Brenda,

Thank you for such an interesting comment, which I really did enjoy, was very interested in reading about the deafness gene, forget where but we found out that a common factor in one of our families was due to genes. You Mum, would be interested to know that during my time on the Membership Council of the Royal British Legion, I met all the senior Royals, except Harry, including being presented to her Majesty.
Have you traced when your ancestors came over to the States, they are a number of documents available that list passengers.
Take care,
Stuart

RAFSturart - It sounds like your mentor has got you on the straight and narrow path heading toward your goals. That is Great Stuart.

I sure do hope so.
