One of the things that was foreign to me when I joined Wealthy Affiliate was following anyone and everyone. I was used to the social media norms of only following people you knew or had at least heard of.
Here at Wealthy Affiliate, however, anybody follows anyone, and I think that's the way it should be. Every person is so unique and has their own set of skills. Each person comes from a different background, has different passions, and has different advice from that of the next person.
With that in mind, how can we not gain from following anyone and everyone? You never know who may be the perfect fit to answer questions, motivate you or just be there to help you out when you need it most.
So, my advice to those that are new here - follow as many people as possible. Shortly after I joined, I made a point of following everyone in the top 200 in rankings to start with. I figure their high ranking stood for something and that they'd been around long enough to know more than me.
Then I started following people in forums and threads. By then I'd built up a pretty solid network, but I didn't stop! I made sure to follow experienced members, while simultaneously welcoming those who were new. It has helped me greatly and I've met some pretty awesome people!
I encourage you to welcome at least three new members every day, and every time you run across a green button that says "Follow", click it. You may just learn something.

I was reading your blog and was enthused about it. I am flattered that you picked me as one to follow having a rank of 200. Actually, I just joined Sept. 2. But just like what you are doing, you will be one of the highest ranking WA member, because you are pro-active. That is how you get your ranking. , Thanks Rachel for your blog....interesting to read.
It is amazing how friendly and willing help the people at WA are. Following really is a great way to learn. Thanks for the reminder.
I really enjoyed your blog, I like knowing what different passions that will answer questions I may have and they in return want to be helped, I was glad to be welcomed by somebody that has been with WA for 5years, And he always stays in contact with me, Answering my questions. And great I can see I'm following you. The best of luck.
That's so great! I'm glad you've benefitted from connections like the one you mentioned.
I follow new members if they have a good profile and like you experienced members. I have gotten so much out of the experienced members. Jim
I agree. Follow all the people you can. They always have some bit of info or help that you can benefit from. They also may benefit from something you can offer.

Rachel, thank you for sharing the blog. First I follow those who followed me. Then I'll follow someone after reading the profile.
I always read the profile and blogs written first....there have only been a few I will not follow...plus the added benefit of actually getting to know who you are following!

The only disadvantage of follow is time. It should also remind us of the necessity of a catchy title. I only read those blogs that catch my eye and promise to teach me something.
