Have you seen PageCloud?

A friend of mine sent me a link to a video about a new web site building service called PageCloud. After watching it, I was really surprised by how useful and flexible it looks. Then I saw the price and decided it wasn't for me since I don't use my blog to earn money at this point. I did wish it was an open source project like WordPress though. I wonder if WordPress could be this advanced some day. Could there be a theme that could make WordPress so easy to work with?

It would be great to hear other's thoughts on this. One of the things that is frustrating about WordPress is being so limited by the themes available. No theme I've found ever has exactly what I want exactly where I want it. What are the most flexible and versatile themes around? The ability to move widgets and other site elements anywhere you want them would be awesome.

Hello my dear friend. Here is a right Dose of Encouragement specially for you and for all my other loved ones. I hope that you will love the taste of it.
Wish you all the best.
Kind Regards

Hi.

Yes, I've watched all the videos of it I could find.

In essence, it lets you take a snapshot of an existing website (Apple's is the one used in most of the demos), and then make any changes to text, graphics, layout etc that you wish.

So on the face of it - looks great - however, the devil is in the detail.

As of the most recent videos I've seen, it's not a blogging platform - so if you want to blog, you'd have to use a third party plugin that will let it scrape information from your "WP" or other blogging platform.

That's just one example - but I think if they can build in some of the functionality we've just come to expect these days, the thought of just being able to point at a website you like - and immediately lift (or copy/steal) everything on that page - and make your site look exactly the same, that you can then tweak - then it does have a certain charm about it.

From what I've seen though - it will pretty much be a static website - with the ability to change every aspect of every page - so you could potentially have a 50 page website, with all 50 pages looking different - so I think you'd have to have some discipline not to allow yourself to do that.

With a theme based platform like WP - you know your theme will run throughout your website.

It will be interesting to see how it develops though - the concept is interesting, I'd just like the tools built-in, and dynamic - and if it can nail that aspect, for me at least, it does have an appeal.

As you say though, the initial monthly fee for one website is high - currently: $8.25 pm or $99 annually. Not cheap or comparative to WA hosting I don't think.

If you're frustrated by the limitations of *most* themes, then have a look at the Thrive Content Builder - which sits on top of WP - and from what I've seen and read, lets you pretty much drag and drop anything, anywhere.

All the best, Mark

Thank you very much for your feedback and assistance!
