Time Management

First and most importantly Start with a Plan. Let's stick to a week's worth of tasks. Sit down with your spouse, calendar and list of things to do (T2D list) for only a week. Make sure to get all Must Dos and Commitments on first: family, church, and work obligations. Then look for all opportunities to block out big chunks of uninterrupted time for WA, enough to where you feel you have devoted a sufficient amount of time to your business without neglecting your family. If you have children, judge the amount of needed family time. If they are off doing their own thing or homework you night get away with just a 15 minute conversation to catch up before they start getting back to their own tasks. A little into the conversation you night even realize they would rather be left alone.

For this single person, the situation is different. I live almost 2 hours away from family. My time is pretty much my own. I make my T2D list of things I hope to accomplish for the day. Depending on what time I get home from work, I usually walk in and immediately start reading and studying. If it's really late then I'll multitask by starting dinner and reading while waiting for things to cook. I feel there is no time to waste.

I like to read for a good stretch of time because I have the energy. When I need a break, I will set the time for 15 to 20 minutes and get to one of the tasks from my list. I'll do 15 minutes of 1 project then the next break 15 mins. of a different project to spread the achievements. I can hear some people saying, 'Why not just keep working on 1 project?' Totally wonderful for others. Personally I get a sense of real progress by getting through a little of many different tasks.

Before singing up with WA, I had projects to get through. I was knitting a scarf (something I realized I had enough skill to do) and I didn't want to just drop something I really enjoyed and helped me distress and literally on the day of getting my free account I moved into my new apartment.

I decided to dedicate quality chunks of time to WA studies, and come break time I would knit or empty out another of the 100s of moving boxes; therefore, I didn't feel cheated out of something I liked doing or guilty for not getting to an organizing task. I finished the scarf, continued learning about WA and the apartment organization is coming along nicely. I feel I have accomplished many tasks especially when I get to physically cross a line through a task. (I just took a break from writing to start putting together a shoe rack.)

Find Your Most Productive Time If you know you can't concentrate when the children are running about you begging for your attention, then give them your time and full attention and plan to study or do something with your business after they are tucked into their beds. Some people might try to study with lots of noise and distractions but not accomplish as much as they desired and lost out on play time with the children.

A T2D list, calendar, timer, and plan help me get to my goals. Good luck to you all!

Nice work on the "Time Management" blog. Keep moving forward.

Very good Annjelyn, OPMC, or let's call it COMP (since doing all these will involve compromise), will help us to get to where we all want to be- Excellence. Thanks for the support!

Organisation, prioritisation, multi-tasking and chunking! Excellent - when it becomes habitual, you know you're there. Keep up the brilliant work :)
Annjelyn

Great acronym! Is on my wall staring at me while I'm working on my website - now that's motivation. Thanks :)
Annjelyn

You gave me the keywords. :) That's cool- on your wall.

Great post about the time management. Thanks. :)

Thank you Jorge. I have Dell building surrounding me here in Austin. Maybe you are an other person I can email when I have questions since IM is foreign to me and as I read questions come up. I will be following you.

Hey Dorothy. LOL oh Interesting you are located near of a Dell site. Yes you can PM me if you have a computer and/or IM question ! :)

Just enjoy the training here. :)

Awesome!

Thanks Andrea. I am sure you are one who has to keep on top of her time with studying for a 2nd career. You are brave. That is tough. Great for you! Do it girly-girl! Show the girl power. :)

Yeah I've moved away from my daily planning, need to get back to it. I used to plan every 30 min of my work day.

I find what works best for me is to make a list of hopefuls and if I get to some great if not no worries. As long as I accomplish something and especially the priorities.

Great information on time management .. I love time blocking too when it comes to time management .. Thanks for sharing Profmiss !

You seem to have a handle on time management because you get many things accomplished even videos. Yahoo for you friend!

Very beautifully elaborated, I will take this into account.

Brilliantly stated! But I am still lobbying to get that 48 hour day!

That would be wonderful Joe!. For now I also rely on coffee and tea. :)

Sounds like a great way to organize time. Best wishes to your quest.

Thanks Karyskis. I see many people in my profession that struggle with time management and in their personal lives. I think there should be a class in the universities for Time Management, Getting and Keeping Organized and Taking Care of your Personal Finances.
