Tick-Tock, Tick Tock
I should start be telling you that I spend my day selling fruit. Imported fruit to be more specific. And, considering that the U.S. is currently not in their prime growing season, I am in the heart of my "busy season", importing fruits from areas which are currently producing the items which we're not. My busy months are normally November through May, with January & February being two of the busiest months every year.
This being said, I have been pouring more hours into my job and have less time to learn here at WA and to work on my site.
I know that I will have more time as the season winds down, however it is frustrating when I have been "on a roll" so to speak. I continue to find ways to organize my time and to keep learning even if I am much busier at the moment.
Here are a few things which are helping me with time management, which might be able to help you as well.
- Google Alerts- If you haven't signed up for them, you should. It's a good way to keep track of what's happening with your niche. Up to date information about your niche.
- Email Organization (Folders) - With all the emails I receive throughout the day, notifications from WA, Street Articles, Google Alerts, Forums I have signed up for, etc. It can be overwhelming. You can get lost once you start reading everything. So I have set up folders for the alerts, articles, notifications etc which I want to go back and read. Keeping your inbox clean, helps with organization, and you can later choose which folder you want to start with when you are ready to begin reading.
- Even if I don't have time to submit an article, if I think about an idea for an article while I'm working, I quickly jot it down or email myself, so that I have it for later.
- Dedicate time to log into WA and at least check out the most recent blogs, and training. There is always valuable information we can use and reference later. I keep a word document titled "sites to reference" and I copy and paste article links, website links, training links, even information I might see in Live Chat that might catch my eye, and I add them onto this document and go back to it when I have time to look up the information. It helps me keep my focus on the task at hand.

Nancy, don't worry; we all go through periods like this where our priorities temporarily change or shift. After the fruit season you will again change and be able to move on,
Regards
Hudson
Thanks Hudson! I know it's only a few short months away.... I just have to learn to be a little more patient :)
Nancy, that you for sharing this post. I like some of your ideas. Thank you again for sharing this with all WA members.

Depending on what system you use, there are different ways to create folders within your email. For example, I use Mac mail, which filters all of my email accounts into 1 "inbox" and then I create "subfolders" for each topic I want to separate. I have folders for my Bills, for google alerts, for family reference etc. If you use outlook, or even comcast or google, you can do the same. What Mail - or "inbox" do you use? Maybe I can help you.
Hi Nancy,
Sounds like you have a tough job with a lot of pressure and not enough time for WA. I spend a lot of time traveling the different states so I use Google email because I can set the emails I receive from different people and companies by using filters into different folders. I also always have a voice recorder with me for those thoughts that come to mind while Im driving. When ever I stop at a truck stop I check my email and write notes from my voice recordings.
Keep in mind that there will come a day when your internet marketing success will cause you to give up your away from home and family job. It will take time but it will happen.
Thanks! I was actually thinking about getting a voice recorder! I'm glad you mentioned it. I was thinking that it would be a great way for me to get my thoughts together quickly when I'm driving. I think the subfolders in the email really helps to keep me organized. I just have to be vigilant about getting back in there to read all the articles and notifications!
Akismet is almost ready. You must enter your Akismet API key for it to work. What does this mean anyone can help?
:). Nice blog. Thanks for setting them out -- Google Alerts is a really neat service.
I've been frustrated too -- my main laptop's screen just cracked in half and I won't see it for ten days or ever again. I didn't lose that much stuff, but it's just a bummer :(. You get used to having everything in a certain place. Sigh, onward....
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. Good luck getting your laptop fixed. That's a bummer! You'll be back on track before you know it!
