Instagram Growing and Being Sent Free Things to Review - Fun!

I have been getting involved in as much as I can with the different aspects of social media, including Instagram, and YouTube.

I'm trying not to be in a hurry, and I really just wanted to see how these things work 1st person.

I've been watching as much of Jay's webinars as I can - if you haven't yet, they're pretty fun and inspiring, and he knows his stuff when it comes to Affiliate Marketing and creating an online brand.

I started my YouTube channel and have been making videos and the more I do it, the more I find that I don't feel as stupid or introverted. As soon as I feel like I've reached a higher level of knowledge on it from experience, I do plan to share.

It's a lot of fun - like making crafts in school - and it makes me excited to get out of bed and reluctant to end the day, which is the perfect way to live in my mind.

I also was getting heavily into Instagram - just playing around with photos and videos, and really learning what builds likes and followers. This was mostly in conjuction with my Amazon sales business - but I learned a lot of great techniques that other bloggers are doing, which I shared previously.

Sometimes I feel like I start too many things and have to select what's most important for my focus - I'm sure anyone can relate - and so I've begun to wonder if Instagram is something I want to really continue.

Instagram has not been quite as much fun overall, but it has built traffic to my website so I haven't been quite ready to abandon it.

All of a sudden - people are sending me free stuff through Instagram, and I'm thinking this is kind of fun so I gotta stick with it and see where it goes.

Free Things to Review

I have been building my followers on Instagram by following people who have similar interests, or businesses that are similar to my niche, and their followers.

Every day my followers seem to grow a chunk, then I'll lose a few with a photo I'm guessing they don't want to follow. That's okay though, because it keeps climbing. I'm working on breaking 500 next - if I stick it out to around 5,000 I've heard that's when it gets really fun with affiliates.

I also share photos from my website reviews to Instagram, with some really great product placement - whether it's an affiliate or not.

For example:

Just like website reviews, a single Instagram photo can lead people to buy a product. And the way Instagram works is:

  1. You build up a following
  2. Affiliates pay you to promote

It's not too different from building traffic to a website and then having affiliates want you to review their product there - so I can only give credit to Wealthy Affiliate for giving me a foundation that I can apply to almost any marketing platform.

But here's what you really are interested in - all of a sudden today, I have three different companies out of the blue wanting to send me items that they think I'd like to try, and asking if I'd tag them on a photo if I like the product.

I don't even have to write a review - although I probably will. I may even make a video - free content ideas!

The free things I was sent today are:

  • Bottle of face cream selling for $65 on Amazon
  • Bag of granola selling for $4 on Shopify
  • Thyroid supplements selling for $15 on Amazon

It's not a big payout, but it's a lot of fun and it is proof to me that I am successfully building a brand that attracts people in my niche.

Have you had a similar experience?

How do I come about changing my personal I.G to business? Should I announce the change or should I just begin? What tips can you give me if I have just opened an account with Fb, Twitter, Pinterest, etc

After you open an Fb, Twitter, Pinterest account, you can learn how to post an article, then learn the posting of a website article, and you will slowly become proficient. (Upload your articles via social media plugins)

It really depends on your niche and how many followers you already have who have no idea what that niche is. If everyone is already on board with you, no announcement needed. The only real difference they will see is you can add location tagging under your name, and you'll have a sort of business title on your profile. Mine is "blogger." I just jumped right in, but I'm branding myself and I still learn and expieriment daily to see what is successful. What you gain from switching to business is all the statistics and insights on how each post is doing and when your followers are on. Good luck!

Thank you so much for responding! Really, I appreciate it so much. You already how confused I am at this point lol

Congrats, Jaime! I just love free stuff! Looking forward to that gravy train soon!
