Hi everyone!

I am excited to be on this WA journey. I have learned many things when it comes to setting up my website. I have a niche that I am very knowledgeable on. OR

Hi Steph,
I seem to have the opposite problem and write too much! I think I write as much as I talk! Haha. Perhaps do some research of other sites that are offering the same/similar information and see what they have discussed. You may find that they have information that is relevant that you could add. Another way is to add your personal experiences of something or your personal opinions. So relate the content back to your own opinion and why you think what you think? Or even some of your client's stories and experiences. Just a few ideas...

Hi Rhansen2

Good to hear from you! Thank you for your suggestions. I try to write my post as if I am speaking with the person.

In my niche there are so many people/ options for couples to choose from that over the years that I had to learn how to give them the best info in the shortest way possible.

My business was very successful but was 100% person to person. Now that I am 100% online it is different.

I have also come to find out that when I do start providing my personal experience I tend to drift off onto a different yet related topic.

I guess for content purposes this could be good because it can lead to a future post. However, I don't want it to distract from the current post.

I will keep practicing. Thanks again for the advice.

Steph,

I feel like we are opposites a little. I also want to be direct but I tend to write and write and then hit about 1400-1600 words and then have to cull it back. You could try doing that approach. Just write whatever you feel like and then see if you hit the 1000 words. If you go over and waffle too much, you can then edit to cull back? It's a different writing approach but could be fun to try something new and see what happens?

Hi Steph,
I was very limited on my first posts to my website, 300 words were about max at first.

As you continue posting you find it will get easier. Sorry, I don't have a "magic" answer for your only just keep working at it will get better.

You might want to go back over the articles you have already finished and see if you can add something, like doing a re-editing task.

Best wishes for "moving ahead".

Bill

Hi Bill,

Thank you for your advice. You make a good point.

When I wrote my first few posts I knew of others that I would write about later that would branch from those. So, I did leave room to go in and provide additional information.

I had forgotten that I did that until your reply reminded me of that.

How big of an issue is it to go back and "update" an older post? and will it negatively impact the rating or traffic?

Thanks,
Steph

Hi Steph,
I think revising or adding to an already published article is ok. I do that frequently.

My opinion is that Google likes a revision because you are entering new material to help searchers.

Best wishes for your continued growth.

Bill

In site content, you are able to layout your content with paragraphs etc and I find this really helps when it comes to filling in the paragraphs
I hope this helps and also the more you write the better you get
Go well
Vicki

Thank you Vicki!

Yes, the layout helps a lot. I can normally come up with 2-3 of the 5 paragraphs. LOL!

Thanks again
Steph

You are welcome Steph and just keep believing you can do it!!
