We Are All Entitled to Complain About the Weather
Last Update: Jan 30, 2023
I have a lot of WA friends in the US, the UK and Canada.
And they are all complaining about the weather.
It's so cold.
I'm snowed in.
My pipes have burst.
... and so on.
It's mid-summer here in Australia of course.
I have a friend from the Netherlands staying here at the moment.
She got back yesterday afternoon and said "It's so humid, isn't it?"
A mild complaint but a complaint nonetheless.
She'd spent the afternoon surfing, including an hour or so just sitting on her board beyond the break line, while a pod of 5 friendly dolphins played around her.
She laughed and said that if she were back home, she'd be complaining about the cold and couldn't even imagine the joy of what she'd been doing here all afternoon.
It made be think about how much of our progress is due to our constant tendency to complain.
It's so hot and humid. Let's invent air conditioning.
Our food is spoiling. Let's invent refrigeration.
Our kids have moved to another town. Let's invent automobiles, smooth roads and rubber tires.
... and so on.
What is your complaint and what will you invent to fix it?
Very interesting Phil! Being British, I do believe we have a reputation for complaining about the weather more often than not!
I would love to build a contraption that eliminates extreme heat in the summertime and also extreme cold in the wintertime!
What's wrong with just having Spring and Autumn all year round?
Complaining is often taken as an easy route to open the conversation.
Mine is the wind blowing! I have lived in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico where the wind really does blow hard and a lot, and still, I complain about the wind when it blows in Central Texas.
Have a great day,
What I hope to be able to do one day if I have a complaint.
If I have a complaint about the weather, myself, or a situation, Then I need to work on myself to change what I am complaining about, or my attitude about the weather.
That is where I hope to be one day.
I have a complaint about the neighbors because they knock on the apartment before eight in the morning.
What am I going to do, nothing special.
Because there have been no rules and regulations for house rules for years.
I have to wait for them to settle down with the renovation.
My dear Phil, with my neighbor for the past year, nothing helps.
I mean, when it's time to renovate my apartment, no one's going to be okay. Unfortunately, when there is no order.
I certainly appreciate your suggestion.

My complaint is....
Umm... what is it?
Oh, I have misplaced a password this week and haven't found it.
To fix it (oh horrors) I will go through that really huge pile of papers on my desk. At least, I did get a nice tray so the papers don't spill out all over the place.
Yeah, passwords are one of the banes of modern existence. I keep all mine in a password-protected Word document, so I only have to remember one.
I also allow my browser to remember unimportant ones (not banks for example) so that they are automatically inserted.
