This Week I May, In Fact, Be Superwoman
So this week I have sorted out my sitemap, learned about widgets, sized my content to viewport, published two posts, learned how to pin stuff on Pinterest (and mixed enough concrete to lay the new terrace). I really feel that I may be Superwoman.
Two months ago, who would have thought it? I never dreamed that a website could be so complicated or so interesting. I look at the patronising tv ads at the moment showing retired ladies and gents so pleased that they have managed to just place an order on line, and I think, why be surprised that they can do it? Old dogs can learn new tricks if they choose to.
Just now, I am on a high. Later, I will forget that I am supposed to be Superwoman when I have to deal with eliminating my render-blocking Javascript. Tea and slippers, anyone?

Correction, Kyle, a LOT of elbow grease, but the community support has been superhuman too and I wouldn't be at this point without them all. I also noticed my site has started slowly moving up in Google. Yeah!

I can really ignore the Javascript thing? It won't affect my page loading/Google ranking? If so then that's the best news I've had since my husband said I'd mixed enough concrete on Monday.
You can read what Analytics says about the Javascript sometimes it's referring to your theme and sometimes it's your widgets above the fold. It's better to keep your ad widgets a bit lower down so they don't slow down the page rendering and just ignore anything to do with your theme. You don't need to start messing with your theme's code, I don't, and I used to write my websites in HTML so it's not scary for me, just not necessary.
Right - I'll start by moving my widgets below the fold and see how that goes. I won't interfere with the code as I'd only totally mess up my site. I did run more page load speed tests and as the site is now loading at just under 3 seconds I was quite pleased.
No tea and slippers for me thanks! Your post did make me laugh, I was astounded when I started getting Saga brochures in the mail when I turned 50!
Noooo! That's awful, except a friend of mine says that the Saga cruises are really good. Almost wish I had the time to find out.
