Crazy Email and Google Setups
I've just completed a fun-packed evening setting up my Site Email, connecting my iPhone to send and receive from Site Email, and creating a business Google account with a Gmail address.
Site Email
This went well, following the instructions for Site-Email from within Site-Domains. I checked that the Webmail was working, and then moved on to setting up my iPhone Mail app.
iPhone Mail
This took me longer than it should have, but then iPhone Mail is notoriously temperamental! I followed the instructions given in Site-Email, being very careful with passwords and my fat fingers!
I lost count of the number of times I set-up the account, clicked 'Next' and the Verifying failed. I deleted the account from my iPhone and tried again. It failed again. Several times! Ok, I thought. Let's see what is actually failing. I went into my new email account on my iPhone and sent an email to another address of mine. I received it smartly. Hmm? So, the SMTP is working.
From my other account I replied to the email sending it back to my Site Email. I logged in to my Site Email webmail and there was the reply in my inbox. Ok, the Site Email is good, and the SMTP is setup correctly on my iPhone. I just can't connect to my Site Email inbox from my iPhone.
I deleted the account again and carefully went through the setup process again. Only this time I decided not to click on 'Next' during the iPhone Email Account setup. I clicked on Save. Immediately, I was presented with a screen I hadn't seen before. Two images - Mail and Notes with two switches. Mail was switched on and Notes was off. I had already been told to switch Notes off, so I left these alone and clicked 'Save'.
I then went back to my iPhone Mail app and opened my Site Email account and lo and behold there were my test emails in my iPhone Mail inbox. Success!
Next stop, I want to have a dedicated YouTube account and separate channel from anything else I have. So first stop Google Accounts.
I decided to create a Google Business account, not really sure if this was a good idea! So, I jumped through all the hoops that Google threw at me until I was prompted for my business address where customers could visit me. No way! I thought. I could not proceed beyond this point, so I just closed the web page and logged in to my new Google Business account without an address. Google hasn't complained.
I now have my domain specific Google account and Gmail address. Now check YouTube.

I logged into YouTube using my new Google account, and I'm ready publish videos on my domain specific YouTube account/channel as and when it's needed.
Conclusion
Writing all this down, I am sure I will laugh about tonight sometime in the future, but in all honesty, it was not completely a stress-free evening! I'm glad it is out of the way.
I think tomorrow, I'll go back to a less stressful Hubs, and more article writing!

Congratulations on conquering the storm of confusion that is Apple Mail! I am absolutely tearing my hair out over this! It looks like it should be easy, but it is not, not, not. Trying to get my mail on my iphone, and my first question is IMAP or POP. I remember dealing with this before. It seems like we are just supposed to know the difference. It's so obvious, isn't it? Okay. I'll try them both. Then, in the outgoing mail settings, there is no place to add "Port 25." Is that why nothing works? I'll try your trick of "Save" instead of "Next," and fingers crossed. This is ridiculous.
A lot of changes are definitely ahead, Paul! In my opinion, not all of them good, but change is permanent after all!
