Email marketing services suitable for promoting WA?
Call me naive, but I didn't know the reputation for the "make money online" / "work from home" niche was so tarnished.
As a last minute attempt to reach out to people via PPC ads, I signed up for Mailchimp, since they offer a free account for up to 2000 persons/email accounts in your list.
When I launched my email sequence (subscription auto-responders), lo and behold, their AI detected that my email content went against their TOS, which I didn't know about beforehand!
If anyone is interested, you can view it at https://mailchimp.com/legal/ac...
Quoting from this link...
"In order to maintain the highest delivery rates possible for all our customers, we can’t allow businesses that offer these types of services, products, or content:
- Escort and dating services
- Pharmaceutical products
- Work from home, make money online, and lead generation opportunities
- Gambling services or products
- Multi-level marketing
- Affiliate marketing
- Credit repair and get out of debt opportunities
- List brokers or list rental services
- Selling “Likes” or followers for a social media platform"
I WISH I KNEW ABOUT THIS BEFORE I CREATED AN AUTO-RESPONDER FOR A MINI 4-DAY EMAIL COURSE WHICH TOOK ME HOURS AND MORE THAN ONE DAY, AND NOW THAT'S COMPLETELY WASTED.
Sorry for the all-caps, I'm truly frustrated.
I felt like my world came crashing down.
BUT, I'm glad I manage to scramble together a Plan B. And so, my Black Friday campaign has just resumed.
I mean, learning affiliate marketing or any means to "work from home" can actually be life-changing and life-saving!!! What's so evil or malicious about this niche that gets email marketing services so sensitive about it? I'm guessing many people have abused the system and created much unnecessary spam in the past to rack up this much scrutiny?
Anyone with any recommendations for email marketing services which would allow me to continue being a WA affiliate?
I suppose if it were not so overt and apparent that I'm in the affiliate marketing niche, the email service provider won't be so sticky about me using them?
Any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sorry to hear of your trouble! I am grateful you took the time to share this experience! It could save a lot of people additional trouble!
I've just started using Benchmark. I'll have to read their TOS a bit closer to make sure they allow this sort of thing. I'm sorry for your troubles with Mailchimp, Pam. I signed up with them but never started anything, now I'm glad I didn't.
Thanks to this post, I'm also going to check out Aweber and GetResponse.
I hope you get all this sorted out soon.
Sue
Thanks for your recommendation, rufat, but the last time I tried GetResponse, what I didn't like about it:
- The landing page features had no grid alignment, so elements were simply "floating", and could not snap to align, if you get what I mean? It was really tough making sure text boxes and other graphics were in line with each other. I checked with their support, and they confirmed that this was the case. I'm not sure if they have improved this by now.
- Their landing page features does not include a count down timer, which I would really like.
Also, I realised that these two points pertain to their landing page features and not their email features! Will research a bit more to directly compare their email features.
I understand you frustration. There are lots of email services available. It is probably a good idea to look around to find one that meets your needs. I have used constant contact previously, but did cost. I honestly don't know what restrictions there were... I always structure an invitation to an event as I wrote.
Aweber as Tommo says or GetResponse .. both world class systems that fit with our business. Cheers, William.
I'm using Aweber as it allow's affiliate marketing. However the best way is to use it to drive traffic to a website where the affiliate links are.
To put them directly into the email is not proper. In fact places like Amazon will close your account down if you do.
Thanks for sharing what you're using, Tommo.
Nah, I'm not directly putting affiliate links into the email content.
See, that's the thing. It's not even direct affiliate links, but simply a hint of "affiliate marketing" and Mailchimp has already clamped down/suspended my account.
I didn't even say anything like: "Affiliate marketing is great!" :(
Their warning message asked me to write in to their Compliance department, which I did, but it has been one week, and I haven't heard back. It's truly very disappointing and frustrating.
Thanks for your comment, Tommo, I appreciate it.

Hi Pam,
Yes, our industry has some major tarnish. I am sure you only need look in your own inbox to understand why some email companies like Mailchimp would not allow the types of businesses listed above.
Unfortunately, not everyone in our industry is trying to add value or provide a real legitimate service to clients. Many will just spray true SPAM emails with buy buy buy to everyone without targeting, or speaking to an audience that actually wants to hear their message.
In addition, you have the crooks, scammers, and truly evil that are actually trying to steal identities, money, credit card info, or get you to accept and forward on packages containing drugs, stolen goods, and other illegal items. There are many other ways that they use that are setup just to rip people off, and unfortunately many times these offers are presented under the illusion that they are offering a legitimate work from home opportunity.
Thankfully, there are email services like Aweber and Getresponse that understand that not everyone within these industries are bad. They understand that there are businesses in industries like affiliate marketing, and work from home that actually focus on building a true legitimate business, brand, and audience. an audience that not only welcomes our emails and information, but see the emails as providing a wonderful service that adds real value.
Thankfully, Wealthy Affiliate teaches us how to become the businesses that people love and want to deal with. We are taught to setup a legitimate work from home / work from anywhere business and how to build a brand by establishing trust, respect, and, creating great value for our audience.
Wishing You Much Success,
Jeff
