Question about affiliate links

I have been trying to experiment a little bit with affiliate links on my blog but thus far can not get any to work. Is it because I am not a paid member yet?

The link I am trying to use is for a book from Amazon

Thank you everyone!

I don't think being a no-paying member would be the issue... But you could certainly post the question in live chat... or ask Kyle or Carson. It could also be an Amazon issue as well. Sorry not much help.

You should make sure when adding affiliate links that you're in the Text tab of the editor window not the Visual one. The tabs are at the top right of the editor window by the tool bar. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-links :) Rich.

What do you mean that your links do not work? If you want a link to become a link on your website, then you need to highlight the link, and use the Link builder to set what link you want it to link to.

Being a premium member here at WA can definitely help you with earning MORE from your website as you can host a domain that you OWN, but even as a Starter member you can add links to your Site Rubix website.

Okay Carson that sounds like what I am trying to do. Let me lay out how I did it then you can probably tell where I am screwing up lol

First i write the title of the book I am mention, then i use the link builder key and enter the link from amazon. Now, the boo title is showing as a link but either in Preview mode or if I actually publish the article when i test the link by clicking on it I get a page that say the equivalent of "oops, site not found"

i'm sure whatever it is I am doing is a really simple fix I'm just stymied by a massive brain fart :)

Make sure that you're using the LINK only when you create your link within Wordpress. Amazon sometimes gives you a chunk of HTML that includes the link. You do not need to copy that full bit of HTML.. Look for this: http://somelinktoamazonhere.com/maybesomevariables/here/" That is your affiliate link..

OR, if you flip over from VISUAL mode, to TEXT mode, you can just paste in the HTML there and it'll work.

HTML is not a link, it's code to display a link.

All links start with: http://

Aha! I think you just nailed my problem Carson...I WAS pasting that big honkin' HTML mess from Amazon. Cool! I figured it was something dumb and easily fixed on my part lol. Thanks much for the advice!
