Whew, finally over the "hurdle"!

Since the last weekend I have been having some technical issues getting my siterubix website transferred into my own domain. 5 days later, and I was finally able to get it up and running! Thanks for the support of my wealthy affiliate friends, I was able to figure it all out.

I have also been stuck in Classroom 3 as none of the affiliate programs I had signed up for had accepted me into the program yet. I've been going a little nuts, anxious to get through the lesson and get started making money! I am pleased to announce, that I am speaking to someone from one program about my website and how I can market their products. Crossing my fingers that all goes well.

I have learned a valuable lesson these past few days, as this was the first time that I actually got stuck for more than a few moments or even hours. I have tried my best to solve the issues and researched some lessons here in WA and kept positive. It really has kept me motivated to keep going. I found that even though I had hit a road block and could not move forward in my lessons, I still kept up with my writing goals (published a blog on my site, and an article on SA), and stayed connected here at WA.

I learned that I have to keep going and use the resources here at WA to the fullest potential, and to keep reading others success stories, and blogs. This has kept me in tune with my new community and kept me motivated to work past the small set backs I was facing.

I can honestly say that when I finally got the email from the affiliate program I signed up with, and finally got my domain up and running here at WA, I was jumping for joy and felt a sense of true joy that I have forged ahead despite the hurdles. I have to thank you all for helping out when I needed it, and for sharing your own stories that have made the unattainable attainable.

I have some serious work to do this weekend, and I am really looking forward to moving full speed ahead again.

Thanks everyone! Remember, things will not always go your way and sharing your frustrations or hurdles can help keep you on track. No moment is wasted if you are learning new things and working towards a goal, no matter how small.

Great post, I look forward to reading more :) Also, I'm glad that you shared this experience so I won't completely lose it when if/when I hit a wall

Honestly, I would not have gotten through it with out the WA network to jump and help out. The lessons in here are very informative too and I used them quite a bit when trying to make this happen. Good luck! It is really fun :)

OK, I managed to do the transfer and redirect siterubix to my new domain www.freeonlinecareersadvice.com let me know what you all think!

If someone would'nt mind telling me, what is a siterubix ?

A "siterubix" is a sub-domain. Now a domain name is like www.wealthyaffiliate.com. www.walmart.com. Etc. A sub-domain lets people know that you do not own your own website on your own territory. We are renting out, (although for free) space that isn't ours yet.

Congrats. I've transferred a siterubix site myself and can feel your pain :). It's worth it though and you're right, sometimes the best lessons are when we find the answers ourselves. Seem to stick better...but so nice to know we have a helpful community, too.

Signing up to affiliates is often a waiting game. Some just take their time, some have very strict criteria and aren't keen if you haven't got a lot of information on your site - sometimes your site isn't a fit for their brand and of course some will welcome you with open arms. Glad it's now happened.

Many will reject you without even considering you because they actually want you to call them. They want to make sure you're not going to promote in ways that will get them in trouble or give their companies a bad reputation. Once they talk to you and you give them a comfort level, they tend to approve you.

Thanks BIS, I took your advice and signed up for several more, and have been approved by 2 programs so far. Thanks for that, I really appreciate it :)

Hey Krysten, well done on getting the website up and running. Transferring from Site Rubix to your own domain can definitely take some time right now as it is a manual thing. We're working on a solution that will allow you to copy it with the click of a button, so stay tuned for that major update!!

Congrats, you're all set to go now with your very own domain!

Thanks Carson. I am enjoying the process and the members here are so very helpful!

Hey Krysten,

I agree with Skyhorse in not waiting for affiliate managers. By the way, often if you give them a call or email them telling them what your plan is they tend to expedite the process. Always tell them that you implement only white hat strategies and what kinds of promotion tactics. I always stay away from saying incentives and coregs - if you don't know what those are don't learn about them. You NEVER need them.

Further, there are often other affiliate programs that can replace the ones you are waiting for so my advice is to proceed with your website and then when they approve you put whatever codes you need in the site. If they don't approve you call them and give them what you are trying to accomplish. If they still don't approve you like i said, there are plenty of other affiliate managers in most niches.

Good luck,
Jim

Thanks Jim! Great advice

Thanks techhound. And Krysten, try Amazon to begin with. I got approved and don't have much of a site just yet, it only took about a day to get approved as well. Even if you don't want to go with them, I think having them in your tool box to pull from would be helpful incase you do in the future.

Glad everything worked out for you! Definitely having patience during these times is key to success. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Eddie! I have been a member for just over 3 weeks now, and I am pretty happy with what I have done. Patience certainly is a virtue, and I am surprised I have not chewed my nails to the quick yet.

Awesome news, congratulations and keep up the great work!

Great progress!!! We all do have road blocks and technology can be frustrating at the best of times, lol. But just because you hit a road block in one area, doesn't mean to stop moving forward in others, that is great you didn't let it.

And on my opinion, because I love to learn so much. I would just keep reading and learning from the courses. Just because the affiliate programs haven't gotten back to you yet, doesn't mean you shouldn't know what to do next when they do. Maybe something in there will help you now with your website. And if nothing else, you then have already read the information once and know what is to come once the programs do get back to you, so that way you can then get information the second time that you might have missed the first. Just my thoughts.

Thanks skyhorse, great advice! I like to peruse the lessons before I start them, but I think I will take a deeper look tonight when I get home from work. Thanks for your thoughts, they are always appreciated!

Here is my site to date if you would like to take a look. I just transferred over my lunch hour (I really should be working right now!) and I need to organize the pages and posts, but I am happy with the overall feel of it. I have some plugins and such to reinstall but I am so happy that it finally made it! Check it out at http://www.freeonlinecareersadvice.com/

We finally get to know your name! lol. Nice name by the way. And I totally see what you mean by organizing it lol. I have some ideas on that, but I'll let you arrange it like you want to, but I would love to check it out once you are done.

Do you know how to organize the menus are such?

@skyhorse, I do no how to organize it, I just need to go back a few lessons to create to get it all in there. The original site is http://jobsearchtips.siterubix.com

On this site, I had it organized the way I liked, and I had the separate home page and blog roll. I need to tweak tonight, and get everything updated. I would love to share when I am done, any suggestions are always appreciated! I like the way it is coming along quite a lot.

Thanks again!

Ok, well I just finished a training I created right now on how to do that. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-organize-your-menu-navigation let me know what you think if you look at it.
