is there anyway I can shorten my main affiliate link to fit better on a business card and therefore make it easier for any prospective client to sign up?
Jay (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jay-gumbs) just mentioned a great idea for this in another thread.
Buy a cheap domain name and then set up a url redirect to your affiliate link. Quite clever.
I thought I might ask you too.
When you promote WA without even having your own website (which means you can't be making any money online, other than referrals you get to sign up to WA) what do people say to you?
I mean do they ever ask why you are not doing what WA teaches yourself?
I just can't imagine pitching something to someone that I am not doing myself. I mean if they asked you the question:
"How are you making money from this"?
You would have to say:
"By get people like you to sign up for WA"
Right?
Hows this work out for you?
Just curious, and I hope Jays idea helps you out in some way.
If you're talking with folks first then sending them to the sign up page you could get a domain name and create a one page website that captures lead information and directs your prospects to the WA sign up page.
I also think there might be a way to use a domain you own as a cloak for your affiliate link. Maybe someone who is more tech savvy can give you guidance for that.
Thanks Ginger. What I wanted to do was put it on business card. I solved the problem by simply saying for further info to Skype me.
I think it's an excellent idea to connect with your audience live and in person. Please keep us posted on how this method works for you.
You can got to google URL shortner and type in your URL and it will give you one that is short. I use it in social media.
He doesn't have a website yet... also you could not give that url to someone to link directly to WA. That is what he is trying to do.
I just sent a reply but it doesn't seem to have shown up so I'll send again. First off thank you for your assistance. As they say there is more than one way to skin a cat! So I simple put on my business card to Skype me for more info. At which point I will provide them with my link.
You can shorten your url using a plug-in and or script on your website that cloaks the affiliate link, but you can't give that out to people. If you give them that it will go nowhere.
Send them to your website first. You can give them a shortened url then (you will have to create it though, it's called a 'short-link'). I imagine it will be much easier to convert this way. They aren't going to enter that entire url into a browser. They will just go straight to WA to sign up and you won't get the referral. Human nature.
Thanks for your help every one. But as they say there is more than one way to skin a cat so on my business card I said to simple Skype me for more details.

Hi Cory,
I am in the process of doing boot camp to be sure. But in the mean time, due to the nature of my brick and mortar business I meat a lot of people. And since I am excited about WA I tell them about it and some people want to know more is all. However I find it hard to find spare time to get through BC, but I will there.
Cheers.
Nick
Thanks Nick ;) - I was curious how this might being working.
Thanks for getting back to me.

I have searched for a new theme by using search within WP. Now I have it in my plugin section I can't use it? How is this done please?
If you saved the plugin its on your computer, so you'll go to it through your dashboard. Like MeganAnthony said, click appearance>theme>add new, then click upload theme, which will take you to your computer folders. (be sure to remember where you saved the plugin to on your computer) click the plugin from your computer folder and then follow the steps after that. It will unpack it and then it'll be in your list of installed themes and you can chance your existing theme to it at that point. Hope this helps. Let me know if you run into any troubles.
go to appearance > themes >add new
search for one you want, then hit install. It'll show up in your appearance section after that. Does that help?
