When the momentum shifts and you are in a rut!

What do you do when you are feeling like youre in a rut? Like you aren't achieving what you set out to? You aren't feeling the enthusiasm or that you feel a little lost with what you are doing?

Well that was me last week, I barely published anything. Couldn't seem to sit down and tick off anything I wanted to do. I was easily distracted and just all over the place!

If any of you have read some of my website posts you will know that my niche is focused on self care, self love and self development.. this last week I have defintely not practiced what I preach.

I have not focused on my self care enough and it has shown! So last night I sat down, wrote a plan of attack for today, did some breathing exercises and went to bed early. I had the idea in my head to use "The Five Second Rule" that I learned from the very inspiring Mel Robbins. If you are interested, here is a link to a quick YouTube video.

The basic idea of the 5 second rule is that if you make a decision to act within 5 seconds that your brain will not have enough time to talk you out of it. So when your alarm goes off in the morning, you say to yourself 5,4,3,2,1 and you get up. It really works for anything!

I woke this morning at 5am, did a workout, watched some of my favourite entrepreneurs on YouTube while journaling and started my day off right. This is such an important part of my routine and I had let it slide and to my own detriment.

After this I started on my plan of attack and before 7am I had spent some time in WA welcoming new members, reading blogs, responding to messages etc. I finished a post I had been "trying" to post for a few days, posted some more stuff to Facebook, Pinterest and ticked everything off my list.

This afternoon I feel a whole lot better, I am still feeling tired and need to focus on getting back into a groove but it's an improvement!

Wow, that is a great article. I have depression and anxiety issues and it always starts when I wake up and I immediately start procrastinating and it gets worse during the day. I will definitely start using the 5 second tip.

Hi Nicky, I think it is quite natural to have those down days. I know I certainly have them. The greatest thing is you are back up and writing.

Yes, I know exactly how you feel. It happens to me from time to time. I just have to refocus and look back at my WHY and refocus to why I am doing this. Keep going, Nicky.

Read your article,watched the video,loved them both. So much discussion content there. I think we sometime forget that our 'To Do' actually means we have 'to do' those things, not keep re-writing it. Positive action. Love it.

That worked well for you Nicky, things don't always go according to plan, probably the first rule of business.

What counts is what we do about it, a day in the doldrums happens to us all, having that strategy to lift the game is what counts.

We should always be looking at the long game and always try to develop that overview.

Hiccups happen, that is life, we just need that action plan to keep moving forward.
