FYI: free images sites
When I first started my site, I found looking for sites that actually provided free images hard to find. Many of them were actually "Royalty Free". Within the sites that Kyle provided in the lesson for adding images, I did find images that complemented my written content.
During one review of my site, one of our community suggested that I look for high resolution images to replace the ones that I had. She was right! She pointed me in the direction of Photo Pin.
When I did a google search for Photo Pin, I came across this informational article on free images with links to sites:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/top-10-places-to-find-free-stock-images-for-your-wordpress-site/
As a result, I now use the following sites to locate free images:
photopin.com This is filled with images from Flickr. I still have to search for images with high resolution, but I do find them there. I just make to sure to click "non-commercial" under license type.
pixabay.com This site have a large collect of excellent images. It includes photos, vectors, and clip art. This is my preferred site for images as so many of the images are clear and professional in quality.
compfight.com This is another site that draws from Flickr. Again, I have to search for high resolution images there. On this site, I click "creative commons" under license type.
commons.wikimedia.org I have found several images here that fit the bill.
When I download an image, add "photo credit" to the caption box when I add media to a page/post. I think this looks professional and is respectful to the image creator.
Photo Pin and Compfight provide this credit information for you. Just copy and paste to the captions box.
Pixabay and Wikimedia do not provide this information in this format. So to give credit, look for the author/creator/photographer name or handle and copy that into the captions box. I then add "via___".
I hope that you find this information helpful. If you find other sites with excellent high quality images, please share them so I can take a look. Thank you.
Cindy

Thank you ... this has been very useful. This image stuff has been a very challenging subject, but I think I've finally got it figured out. When I first started out I learned that "Free" may not be no cost, since Free to copyright and Free of cost come in to play. Then there was the attribution requirements ... the legalese that can be pretty confusing.
I started out thinking I would hyperlink the borrowed image back to the credit source, but decided that was too exposed to a visitor inadvertently leaving my site. Then I tried putting the credit in the caption, but felt that would be too distracting for the reader.
I'm now experimenting with footnoting the image credits at the bottom of the page, almost like you would a term paper. I number the images in the caption, minimizing the distraction, and footnote the complete credit by number at the bottom of the page below a line providing visual separation from the text. I think this is what I'm going to run with.
Thanks, Thia. Although I don't use free images from the net, our friends will benefit this info, for sure. I also have been to your website and left you a comment. You are a great writer, Thia. Thank you. :)

Hi there,
I personnaly either use my personal images or purchase them as I want to avoid futur problems.
Great post for those who use free images.
Annick, It is wonderful that you can use your own images! When searching for an image that matches my internal picture, I often see professional images that would fit the bill. At this time, buying images is not an option for me. Cindy
