Convert Your Pages to Posts or the Other Way Around

I just wanted to share something with you all. I was wondering how I could convert my pages to post and I just wasn't seeing how to do it within WP. So, I went to the only place I knew I could get the help I needed.

That place is none other than WA. So I began typing my question in the search bar at the top of the page and all these posts and questions related to mine began to pop up.

I clicked on one that I thought would help me and in some way it did but here's the kicker. I installed the plugin that was suggested but I didn't see anywhere in WP to use it and change settings. So I clicked the link for that particular plugin to get instructions on how to use the plugin which took me to the WP website. This plugin was for converting a bulk amount of pages to posts as well as the opposite.

Surprisingly, this plugin suggested a totally different plugin to easily convert pages to post and vice versa, especially if you are only doing one at a time. The name of this plugin is Post Type Switcher.

It works flawlessly and it is so simple to use. To change the settings, look directly above the "Publish"/"Update" button and you'll find the place to change the settings. One thing to keep in mind, if you are converting a page into a post, once you change this setting and click "update" be sure to go down below that and tell WP where you want this post to be located by selecting the category you want it in.

Just wanted to share. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Josh

Thanks for this post

You are very welcome buddy.

Just what I was looking for, but I still have a question. I have changed my page to post now. How do I remove a title of my page from my post? Let's say my page is called Affiliate marketing and my post is Learn affiliate marketing step by step. When I go to my website a title of my post is still Affiliate marketing. I hope I explained it correctly. Any clarification would be much appreciated.

I've done it now, so please ignore the previous question :) All ok now.

This is just what I needed now. Thanks for spelling this out.

You are very welcome. I'm just glad I could. I really enjoy this plugin, it's super easy.

I just realized that content I will keep updating should be posts, not pages. Am I on the right track?

Yes you are. Pages are most likely well thought out, which allows them to have little to no updates for long periods of time while posts are updated weekly, sometimes daily.
Keep working hard, you are doing great.

Appreciate the encouragement. When you have time could you comment on these posts? They're comment-deprived! Thanks.

You also got to put that hard work in through the comment system to get those comments you need on your posts.

Great share Josh, Thanks .

Anytime Timothee.

This could be very useful so thanks for posting.

You are very welcome. It helped me tremendously.

That is really neat. I've bookmarked this so that I will have the information if and when I may need it. Thank you for sharing it.

Anytime Quicy.

Good info, thanks for sharing. One question, though: If you have a page or post that has been Google fetched and ranked already, what happens when you switch the post to a page or visa versa? I assume the url changes also, right? So does the post/page have to start all over climbing up the SEO ranks?

From what I've seen the URL doesn't change and all the comments are still available. I checked the rankings and they all were still the same as well.

oh ok. Good to know.

You can also use pTypeConverter. This is the plugin I use in my two websites, converting pages to post and vice versa.

Thank you Ferdie for that additional information. Do you deactivate your plugin until you need it again?

Yes. I deactivate after I'm done using it.

I was just wondering because I did the same thing.

I also deactivate other plugins after using. What remains always activated is the 5 basic plugins + social media plugin.

I do too. We are definitely on the same sheet of music.

thanks for sharing this valuable information

You are very much welcome my friend.

Omg thank you so much for making this post!!! I've been having trouble with just this issue and was about to ask myself.

See that's the thing I love about WA and the awesome thing about affiliate marketing...you learning something, put it into action and then teach it to others. And the gratifying thing is when you get comments like yours that say you helped solve the exact problem they were having.

All the best to you my brother.
