A lot of buzz gets pushed around with new product launches coming out. Many of these product launches may only keep their shopping carts open for a week, or even less. This builds up a lot of suspense. Those who have a large email list of buyers in that niche, can typically earn a lot of money. But even if you do not have a big email list of ready buyers, can you still make a big profit from these affiliate launches? That is where launch jacking comes in.

Some of you may have heard of this blogging strategy for earning big affiliate commissions, and others may have not. Here at Wealthy Affiliate should you incorporate this marketing tactic into your blogging arsenal? This blog post will discuss some of the pros and cons of Launch Jacking, and I will give you my final thoughts.

What Is Launch Jacking?

Launch Jacking is loosely defined as when an affiliate marketer tries to hijack the front page of the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) on an upcoming product launch by ranking their review site, or review videos in Google ahead of the product launch. There are many detailed steps involved in a successful launch jack, but the bottom line is if you don't have the front page, during the launch, and have the right bonuses for your potential customers, all the effort could be for naught.

But it is certainly possible to earn a lot of money, in a very short period of time. One of my favorite success stories about launch jacking came from this SEO channel on YouTube.

Pros of Launch Jacking

  • You Can Earn Big Money Fast

If you watch the interview, it is pretty obvious that a lot of earning potential lies in successful launch jacking. The guy in the video managed to pay off his school loans by doing it.

  • Affiliate Contests & Recognition

Unlike traditional affiliate programs, since you are in the middle of a time sensitive launch, typically they have a contest based on the number of sales you bring. Typical prizes are vacations, cash, ipads, cars. etc. This is a great way to gain recognition, and win some cool prizes as well.

    Cons of Launch Jacking

    • It is a zero-sum game.

If your website doesn't make it to page one during the launch, you probably won't earn anything from all that work. Plus, the launch only has a very limited time period, so your content will probably be useless after the launch ends.

    • It may require gray hat, SEO tactics

You are in a time crunch, and are trying to rank your website very quickly. Typically, if your website has very little authority, you won't be able to rank without doing some grey hat or black hat SEO. We don't recommend doing this, especially on your main money site, because it could get your banned from Google.

    • Success typically requires a thought out Bonus Page (but not always)

If you want to maximize your success with launch jacking you definitely need to have a custom tailored bonus package for all the new customers you bring in. This can require a lot of preparation and thought, especially if you don't have any bonuses already prepared.

    Final Thoughts

Launch Jacking could very well be a viable option for many of you in the Wealthy Affiliate community. Some niches are much easier to do launch jacking in, because they don't really have any competitors who understand the launch jacking process. But remember:

    • It is a short term tactic, not a long term viable strategy.

Once the launch is over, you won't be able to earn from that product review you wrote. I definitely recommend you fill your website with evergreen affiliate products, that you can earn from for years and years.

But keep the Launch Jacking concept in the back of your mind and perhaps take a course or two on how to execute it properly. You never know, when a hot new product in your niche could be just the perfect opportunity for you to execute Launch Jacking.

I would say Launch-jacking was a high-risk business with great results if you do it right.

I agree. Once a blog has built up enough naturally built authority, it would be worth trying out. Why not, right?

JvZoo even gives you dates when launching new products, giving plenty of time to write reviews. I never knew I was a "Launch Jacker". lol
May need to get me a t-shirt with that upon the front.

Make a living, make a difference.
    Anyway possible.

Right, and you can even integrate jvzoo with an autoresponder, so whomever buys your affiliate product, gets put into your autoresponder list for when the next hot product comes along.

That is one damn good idea. Do you use jvzoo?

Over the years, I have purchased a lot of JVzoo products, but I haven't promoted very much of their stuff yet. I do mostly clickbank for their always selling "evergreen" products.

Get on their email list. They send me new product launches 3-4 times per month and always give adequate time to act on them.

Great information. But sure seems like a lot of work and even more risk....I think it's best to continue to focus on the building something more sustainable for me at least. Reminds me of the cannabis oil everyone is selling. How many are really making it work for them? Anyone doing this really needs to go in with their eyes wide open.

I totally agree. It is good for quick cash, but not a sustainable business concept long term.
