Lost what my blog is really about

Well, I did not realise that I actually lost track of my main aim of my blog until Google Adsense rejected me.

First it was obvious, my Affiliate Disclosure got indexed and I had to remove it again. Steps done, applied again but guess what! I got my second rejection. The worst part of it? The reason was:

Valuable inventory: Scraped content

As stated in our program policies, we may not show Google ads on pages with little or no value and/or excessive advertising to the user.

You can imagine how you feel after investing so much time in writing and researching and then Google is telling you that you do not provide any value.

I was upset, felt like to cry and almost threw a tantrum. After spending enough time of pitying myself I decided to get my s*** together.

By checking my site properly I then realised that Google was so right!

I started very well, very personal and describing my transformation and so on until I tried to be an expert of a topic when indeed I should have sticked to what this is really about.

My blog is about transformation, being blunt and just myself. There are thousands of experts site's outside and if you try to do the same, of course it seems that you scraped content (even though it is not true!).

I could ignore and move on but I never chose the easy way. I guess it is time to get back to basics, even if it means spending hours of my precious time to improve my content.

Nathalie,
AdSense to me when I first arrived in WA people would ask the
more experienced members about this would be their response:

Do you want to make pennies or dollars?
If you want to go with Adsense then you are going to make
pennies these take people away from your website - the
best thing for you to do is monetize with products fitting into
your niche and I am sure there are plenty if you just look
around :)

Hope this helps you in a way and do not be upset Adsense is
only good if you have 100's of thousands of visitors to your
site daily :)

Susan

I agree with the others below. Don't use AdSense. It distracts your visitors away from your message. Is your niche amazonable? Could you feature products found on Amazon? If it is, you might consider becoming an Amazon Associate.

Hi Nathalie, hope you fulfill all your hopes and ambitions at WA. Good Luck.
Jo

Thanks Jo :)

You can have affiliate programs out there if AdSense is not for you this time.

Yes I do my best to figure what they could have interpreted as scraped content. But if not, I will stick to affiliates programs. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Nathalie!
Your experience is a great example of something that can happen to any of us.
How you address it is an even better example of turning a mistake into a lesson and using it to improve yourself.
Well done!
KyleAnn

Thanks KyleAnn :)

Adsense is not all it is cracked up to be. I don't use it because of the ads they use.

Derek

Thanks for sharing :)

Hello, I do not use AdSense, it is more nonsense to me. Please don't be discouraged like you say s*** happens. All the best.

Thanks :)

Hi,
First of all I don't use AdSense. I find those ads really annoying and detract me from what I was supposed to be reading.

Second of all. Yes I can imagine you could have screamed but in the end you didnt. You picked yourself up and shook yourself down and looked into what Google was saying.

You addressed that situation and you took notice of it. I doubt many would and you realised where you had gone wrong. To top it off you shared it with us which probably wasn't easy.

Most don't share their mistakes. Those mistakes help us all out a lot.

So all I can say is well done to you. Now go and kick Googles Butt and show them what you can do.

This post is awesome. Thank you.

Debs :)

Hey Debs,

Thanks so much for your encouraging words. Feel much better now :)

:)

Have not as of yet, but it sounds as though you have gotten your head around it and are well on your way to a remedy. No one ever really likes to be corrected, but it does prove to assist in our growth and strength. Keep it simple, sounds like great advice that I am sure we could all apply from time to time.
Keep your head in the game Nathalie and you will emerge victoriously.

Blessings ~ Frank & Tina (free4life)

Thanks so much Frank & Tina!

Don't be hard on yourself Nathalie!

It happens ...

And the only thing that matters, you've decided to "get your s*** together" ...

And you'll get there ... Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Will do my best :)
