A little something to brighten your day or how to succeed despite all odds
You may have heard the frog race competition story. The frogs had a simple goal to reach the top of a high pole. Thought it was a dangerous task, a few brave frogs took on the challenge, while a huge frog crowd gathered to watch the contestants. The crowd shouted “Don’t fool yourself, you are just tiny frogs. It is impossible to reach the top. You will never make it!”
As it usually goes, one by one, the frogs began dropping down. The gathered masses kept roaring “You can’t make it. It’s too hard!”
Nearly all frogs capitulated. Only one little frog climbed higher and higher. Eventually, this little frog reached the top of the pole.
No one could believe their eyes. The gathered crowd wanted to learn how on Earth this tiny, weak frog made it.
The frog was deaf!
We use other people as a reference point and we are not immune from their influence. Sometimes, we act not as individuals, but as members of groups we identify with. That helps explain why it’s so difficult to ignore opinions of our friends and relatives.
But, to succeed sometimes we simply must be deaf to other people’s comments and criticism! We must not let others discourage us! We have to follow our paths and disregard people who will not hold the ladder for us while we climb. Reaching the top requires persistence, determination and a strong focus. So keep your eyes wide open for opportunities and your ears shut for discouragement.
Hope this short post will brighten your day.

Hi Mudre, as Winston Churchill once said: "The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity, the optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.
IT COULDN'T BE DONE
Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But, he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't" but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, as he did it.
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one we know has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That cannot be done, and you'll do it.

Nice story Mudre. I think I might be going a little deaf in my old age. Do you think this will be a help to me?
I guess we all go a little deaf as we age Ken. Business wise, it is good to go a bit deaf to what people have to say, in particular those with no business experience behind them.

Good advice, and don't listen to the voices in your head (a tough one) ...no they are not pathological - LOL! just old tape loops from past experiences.
Thanks Richie.
