April 2025 Has been, well, a roller coaster
The month started out good enough. Google traffic waking up. Sales starting to pick up. Even an unsolicited call from a company to work with them...
And then Easter weekend. Not usually big on computer sales. But the aftermath is strange.
This is the last 28 days. Clicks on google slowly continuing to rise from 40 a day last month to over 100 about a week ago. Impressions (the times that google will add you to a search) rising as well from 4000 to around 8000 a day. And rank, an indication of where you appear in search, decreasing from around 30 to around 20.
And then Easter weekend.
I have recovered from the 40-50 clicks over the weekend to close to 100 a day again. But here's the thing. My average rank dropped (not in a good way). A lot. And impressions? They've gone way up too.
What does that tell me?
I'm not sure yet, but I have a theory. 35 pages that weren't ranked last week at all were ranked this week. I only posted 14 pages last week. But I have also been updated very old pages. Adding FAQ Schema, cleaning up links and images, and adding CTAs to them.
So I think that some pages that weren't ranked last week were ranked this week. Maybe not high, but ranked.
It says two things. That I am on the right track, but possibly not doing enough.
But things are improving for sure.
This month on Amazon: about 40 clicks a day with an 8.5% conversion rate and 72 items ordered so far
Last Month: About 30 clicks a day with a 5.5% conversion rate and 56 items ordered
February: About 33 clicks a day with a 7% conversion rate and 66 items ordered
So not going to order a Ferrari anytime soon, but as I keep saying...
I really need to scale this!

Looks amazing! May I ask if most of your traffic is organic? I am assuming its not paid traffic. Have your tried traffic exchanges or solo/email ads to boost those numbers?
Cheers
J
All organic. Two posts a day since November. I have some social media. But I have let that go, not enough time.
That's awesome! It can be done as I was learning from some small courses there was an instructor that built his presence through all organic traffic. Great work!
Yes I think Jay has some Wordpress courses where he does a candy making site that gets all its traffic from organic search
Awesome bro!. looks and sound like your've got some good hearty secret sauce happening. Well Done!
Thanks Robert. It's been a journey! But worth it. I am finally on a path to not spend the kids inheritance. Hit breakeven in December, and should be completely break even by mid year or sooner (so going all the way back to when I started this journey).
Congrats Michael. That’s very impressive. I’ve never seen that many clicks and impressions. Seems like Google is being good to you. Great work!
How long has this particular site been up?
I started it a little after I got to WA around August 2023. It died a horrible death in March 2024 (one of the "helpful content" updates) but I kept it going as a template for my YouTube channel, turning out 1-2 posts a week. Then in November things got better.
That’s an amazing comeback! So the YouTube channel helped it grow, is that right?
I started the weight loss site Feb 2024 and then the guitar site in May 2024. Both flatlined after the December update but the guitar site seems to be getting slightly better lately. I finally realized after 10 months that guitarists aren’t reading blogs, they’re on YT. lol So, I’m slowly working on getting that going.
I’m very persistent and maybe a little stubborn so I’m still not totally giving up on the weight loss site. Haven’t published any articles for over a month while I strategize.
Absolutely! I’m working on my mission statement to gain some clarity of what I’m actually wanting to accomplish with the YT channel. Plus, I’m trying to find the courage I need to do it.
I can totally see where you're coming from. I think I am a long way from having the courage to try a YT video. I need to have the courage to get going with social media now. And it all takes time!!!
My first attempt before creating websites was Facebook. Good thing I was already familiar with having a personal profile. Still takes time to sort it all out.
Can’t remember when starting Pinterest but I used to stare at the homepage and scratch my head. It all looked like alien hieroglyphics to me at the time. Now it’s just everyday life.
I’ve always loved Instagram!
Never saw the use of Twitter/X but now I’m on there quite often. Plus, I love using Grok 3.
I’ve been on LinkedIn a long time, mainly cause of my day job. Not really sure how to use it for blogging. It’s kinda boring to me.
I have a personal profile on Facebook and occasionally comment, but never post.
I can totally relate to your description of staring at the Pinterest homepage. I only signed up there once when I needed some information for a project for my granddaughter. Since then I've been bombarded with daily emails that I never look at.
Instagram I signed up with because my granddaughter is in France for this academic year and posts on there. I just look at her and a couple of niece's pictures.
I will listen to the training about all of these and then try to get going.
I may come and ask you when I get stuck.

Great progress, Michael!

Yes traffic has seemed to completely recovered, except for average rank. But as I said that might be a good thing.
I know it's taking a while, but thank you, I appreciate it.
Michael, it's like any career. You have to learn the nuts and bolts before you can make good content and put it out properly.
After 18 months of very part time, I am past breakeven. At my current pace, I should make back all of the money I spent from June 2023 on (and WA is just part of it) by June.
