A story... so one day I decided I wanted to be an artist in clay. I set a goal to make a $10,000/mo in 6 months. But I had never done it before.

So I spent the next 3 weeks staring at a couple of lumps of clay...
WHAT COLOR SHOULD I USE?
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING I SHOULD MAKE?
WHAT IF IT TURNS OUT TERRIBLE?

Answers:
anything you like
anything that interests you then go through the art course
palm smash and do it again

Moral: When you've never done something, you're not going to get it right. So just pick a theme, pick a niche that excites you, go through the training, AND WRITE!

After awhile, you'll realize Goldlocks was right. The niche is too wide, too narrow, not enough audience, too many big players, etc.

Ross said it well... PIVOTTT! (I won't link. If you don't know this one, a search of "ross pivot" will get you your answer). I am on my third niche. I dropped the first, paused the second.

You learn, you adjust. It's part of the journey.

Onward!

Absolutely 💯 👍

A really good analogy here, the moral o the story is that you can head in such a broad range of different directions with your niche, and you can be very narrow with your niche that there are millions of options...and then when it comes to what to promote, there are millions of options there.

As you build and shape your play-doh, your creative direction will almost certainly evolve and change and you can play with any colour of play-doh that you want!

I lived this. When I first tried affiliate marketing, I wasn't part of a copywriting group. So it was more about just creating a blog. I failed miserably but I wrote.

Then I came to WA, and was just in the middle of watching a YT series on posting 100 posts in 100 days (Eric just did this). It needs an overhaul. But I learned a lot by doing it.

Now I am on my third attempt. I am applying what I learned.

I am seeing 20-30 clicks a week after 3 months. My DA is up to 5. I am experimenting with YT, FB, Medium and Pinterest and see more like 40-50 people a day on the site now.

I really believe that the business isn't about the niche or how you make money. It's figuring out how this works and then you can apply it to any niche in ANY media.

So staring at the play doh won't get you there. Get your fingers dirty, listen to your teachers and be prepared to squish it!

Well said Michael! When starting anything new there is always so much to learn so it is unlikely we will hit the ball out of the park on our first attempt!

If we continue to learn, grow and put into practice everything bit of knowledge acquired then the only way we fail is when we give up!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend!

We must always embrace change when it is necessary, Mike!
