Human’s natural goodness

There is always a potential for goodness that exists in all beings, that is acknowledging that everyone, everywhere, all over the world , has these qualities and can call on them to help themselves and others.

When we’re not caught in the trap of hope and fear, we intuitively know what’s the right thing to do.

If we’re not obscuring our mind with cravings, self-pity or emotional imbalance, we know what will help and what will make things worse. Our ideal emotional reactions cause us to do and say a lot of crazy things. We desire to be happy and at peace, but when our emotions are stirred, somehow the methods we use to achieve this only makes us more miserable. Our wishes and our actions are, all too frequently, not in synch. But we all have access to a fundamental intelligence that can help to solve our problems rather than making them worse.

We all have the capacity to love, have empathy, to have a sense of humor, to have appreciation and to feel gratitude. It’s the whole spectrum of what often ar qualities that are a natural part of being human, the human’s natural goodness. It has the power to heal all relationships - the relationship with ourselves as well as with people, animals, and all that we encounter everyday of our lives.

We don’t need to blame others, and we don’t need to blame ourselves. When we’re in a tight spot, we can experiment with not strengthening the aggression habit and see what happens. We could choose to stop, to slow down, to be still for a moment. It creates a momentary contrast between being completely self-absorbed and being awake and present.

When we pause, we also give ourselves the chance to touch in to our natural warmth. We can make the choice to nurture positivity, openness, compassion and warmth ~ the human’s natural goodness!

Great advice Maria. Also, when we take a moment to stop, detach emotions and evaluate situations based more on our own intellect and experience, we are better able to spot those "humans" who have apparently either LOST their inherent traits toward "goodness", or they've completely suppressed any good qualities they may have once had to the point of nonexistence. For instance, those heartless and calculating "humans" who make their living trying to scam decent, honest people out of their hard-earned money through deception and lies, etc.

Sorry, I'm kind of "on one" this morning, as I was almost sucked in by the most convincing scam call I've ever received yesterday. I blogged about the experience if you'd like to read it here: Thanks for your post reminding us that MOST people ARE decent human beings with inherent traits for goodness they regularly exhibit towards others.

Kevin

I have read your blog and I could relate, as I had one very convincing call such as yours, sometime back. I remember posting something about that as well.

It’s when we detached ourselves from a stirred up emotion of rage can we truly be present and awake, and can then process the situation better.

Try this, if you get similar call later, as I bet you will, (as these kind of people would not give up) - repeat back all pertinent information you got from him, in a very slow manner and say “Hold on for a second…” - this creates some unnerving on the other side ~ they usually hang up. Meanwhile, this allows you to process the fact and make a more intelligent decision.

Thank you Kevin!

Hey MT, thanks for sharing this beautiful article. It is true that humans have a natural goodness, but unfortunately, circumstances sometimes bring the worst out in people.

Today, I would love your assistance and give me some of your awesome positivity and optimism. I have been studying relationship counseling, and I am a professional counselor, but sometimes it is really hard because the mind is a complex machine. I know how to identify and handle manipulation from people, which most people can't even notice as it's often very subtle and subliminal... But how can I nurture positivity and also get these people to change their mindset to be more positive? I am sorry for sounding negative, but this is a real problem in my fiancee and my lives. Once the manipulator learned I was immune to that, they ran off and manipulated other family members and tried to turn them against us. If you by any means know something that can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

We all have access to a fundamental intelligence that can help solve our problems rather than making it worse.

Be still! It creates a momentary contrast between being self-absorbed and being awake and be present.

Nurture positivity, openness, warmth and compassion! Allow yourself to pause for a moment! Separate yourself from your stirred up emotions! Experience human’s natural goodness!

Cheers,
Maria 🌹
