I have Writer's Block

It's been 5 days since the last time I posted on my blog and I have no idea why. I get up early (almost) every morning with the intention of typing out a post, but when I sit down to start typing, I draw a blank.

As I'm going through the day my mind is flooded with ideas, but as soon as I put my fingers to the keys it's all gone.

My intentions are to write a post everyday in January in hopes of finding my voice and getting use to coming up with ideas and blogging.

In fact, I told myself that I would not set up any social networking outlets until I at least had 10 posts on my blog. I am currently at 5. I can see where I want to go with my site, but there is something literally blocking my ideas.

Just felt like getting this off of my chest.

I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm having a hard time as well. It's so frustrating. The ideas flow through my mind like crazy but when I sit down to write I feel like a deer in headlights. I know it will come, specially after reading many of the replies to your post.

We just have to stay focused on our goals. The words will come for both of us. :)

Think about recording yourself sometimes when you have ideas you don't have the time to remember them all. Instead of waiting to get to the computer try out the recording strategy. :)

That's a great idea! I know I'm able to process my thoughts better when I speak them. So I can make voice memos... Kind of like clearing space, lol.

I so understand your frustration. Hang in there, the words will come.

Writing can be difficult and I envy people who have a natural talent for it.

I know what you mean, but I think with practice it will get easier :)

If you type > writers block < in the search bar, you'll see you're far from alone. :) Diva B. (@BIS) has a simple tip, leave everything half-finished... https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/bis/blog/a-simple-tip-for-avoiding-writers-block-leave-a-job-half-done :D Rich.

Hey @RICH,
Just checked out the article. Thanks for sharing. I think this technique this will go along great with the Wordpress App that I just found.

Here is a trick to try. Sit down at the computer at the time you planned to write. If your mind is blank just start typing "My mind is blank ........" Set a timer and just write what ever comes into your mind without any worry about the subject matter. If you get in the habit of writing at a planned time eventually material for your blogs will flow from your brain. Your habit will be writing. Your mind will follow. This works for me.

Sharon, this is a good idea. I use to use this technique when I use to write songs. It's a great way to help me get things off my mind. My most creative and catchy songs were written this way. Thanks for the reminder!

Hope your blog writing goes as well as your song writing.

Do you have Google alerts set up? That is a great way to get ideas occurring within you niche. You should keep your audience up to date with information. Hope that helps. Debbie

Hi Debbie,
I recently set up my Google Alerts. I'm sure it will help.

Hey Belita,

One suggestion is to head on over to some of the article directories such as streetarticles.com and ezinearticles.com. Look for articles that are related to your niche and just scan through the titles of the articles. Also Hubpages can be good for this as well. The idea here is not to copy any articles but just use them as inspiration for ideas.

I often scan Pinterest.com and StumbleUpon.com for sources of ideas. You'll want to be a bit cautious on these as they can sometimes be a time waster. But they do help me generate ideas.

Also, use Jaaxy.com as a way to generate ideas. Sometimes even just the keywords themselves can get the creative juices flowing.. Similarly, Google's Keyword Planner can be used to generate keywords that can be used as inspiration for writing.

Hope this helps.
Jim

I've tried looking at other sites, but then I get overwhelmed or intimated. Doing keyword research is a good idea. I'll have to try that :)

Hi Belita,
It's terrific when those ideas come flooding in - Just jot them down on a notepad. Even better, record them on your phone or mp3 player and you'll find you'll have lots to write about. Trying to blog every day puts you under stress, it's best to blog when your ideas come naturally and then search for key words that align with your post.

I will try to start jotting my ideas down as the come. In fact, I found out the Wordpress has a andorid app, so I will start putting my ideas in draft form on my Wordpress. Thanks for the advice
