How They Met & Fell in Love

What Happened Before

In my last post, I talked about how my accident caused me to lose the ability to communicate verbally when the doctors at Shock Trauma Hospital in Baltimore, MD had to quickly cut & shove that tracheotomy tube in my throat.

Then I mentioned with a smile how I've learned to speak clear enough that even the Spanish guy at the gas station down the street can understand me but this time, I want to talk about how I met & fell in love with my wife.

How They Met

I was living in a small, run-down apartment near Baltimore from 2006 to 2012 and it was near the very end of that year that I was evicted from my place for failure to pay the rent - I just didn't have it.

I grew up in the next town with my parents & 3 younger siblings but all 4 of us had moved up & out on our own and left our mother & father in a huge home my father had built from the ground up in 1984.

My two loving parents had decided to move south to a small town on top of a mountain in north eastern Georgia and they offered to let me come stay with them if I could get to their new home state on a Grey Hound bus. I then made plans to have a friend drive me and my one big suitcase that had "ALL" my worldly possessions to the city where I could get on the bus.

When I boarded the Grey Hound, there were only a few seats available and I asked if I could sit next to the person in the most forward open seat and the woman simply shrugged as she nodded. That's where I ended up sitting for the next 2 1/2 days as the bus took me toward my destination but each time the bus would stop at various rest areas to let the passengers shop & eat & rest; I would pretend I was this woman's husband by opening doors, pulling out chairs and helping pay for her meals.

This woman's name was Julie and she loved being treated like one of my best friends - so much so that we exchanged email addresses and agreed to keep in touch. Well, we quickly took our email chats to the phone and I imagine it's a good thing my parents' new place was a well-built log home with insulated walls because I'm sure I would have kept them up quite often from all my late-night phone conversations with "the girl from the bus".

How They Met Again

After the two of us made plans of living in a trailer home that belonged to Julie's sister & brother-in-law, I had my father drive me the 4 hours from Georgia to the city Julie left the bus in and I was riding in the back of his crew cab pickup truck when we pulled up to the trailer and saw Julie standing outside.

I found it hard to believe that the whole time I was growing up, my dad never really had anything to do with any of my friends and especially none of my girlfriends so when he climbed out of the truck first and pulled Julie in for a great big hug, I could tell she didn't know how to respond and it made me smile.

I later found out that my dad gave Julie a hug so he could whisper in her ear to "Take care of my son" to which she responded, "Yes sir".

Well, Julie & I had a lot of fun in that trailer - even through the real hard times, and we have incredible memories that will never be forgotten. In any case, Julie is my first wife and I have no doubt she will be my last or in other words, I don't believe the two of us will ever break up.

I guess my point is that I have this over-powering desire to give her much more in life than she's ever had and to be her "Prince in Shining Armor" until we're both gone and with the help of Wealthy Affiliate, I believe I can give her that.

A lovely story Michael and I wish you all the best

awesome story, good luck to both of you

Good Morning Michael,

I wish you and Julie all the best in this world and hope WA will contribute to your happiness.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Dang! What a beautiful story and now I have tears in my eyes! You two look "made for each other" and very happy. When we first fall in love with the person we're supposed to spend our lives with, we may think that everything will be perfect, but the truth is, the hard times bring us closer ( and closer and closet) as long as we keep on loving.

So glad Y'all found one another, and MrMike, don't forget to keep making her laugh everyday!! Take Care

Right Sue,

But the truth is that it was both of our strong belief in God that has kept the two of us together and thanks for your comment.

Mr. Michael "Live"

Love your story! Thanks for sharing!

Best wishes,
Karin
