Even with disaster we all have to smile
Hi, everybody.
Back on track today.
I live in a small town called Washington Terrace Utah.
It is bordered on the south side of Ogden Utah.
We live by the Wasatch mountain range so we would expect an earth quake.
But to our surprise we was hit by a tornado.
WOW, These do not happen here. maybe once in every 20 years.
This was just a little F-1 TORNADO but it sure did a lot of damage.
WASHINGTON TERRACE — As emergency officials continued Friday to add up the damage caused by a destructive tornado in Washington Terrace, the massive cleanup also got underway.
As of Friday afternoon, 21 homes in Weber County — primarily in Washington Terrace, Riverdale and South Ogden — were determined to be "uninhabitable" because of major structural damage, and building inspectors were still counting, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Nate Hutchinson.
About a dozen of those homes are total losses, Hutchinson said.
"The damage is so extensive that we're talking major, major overhaul just to get them back up and working. Some of them are without roofs, or have shifted off their foundations," he said.
The total damage from Thursday's storm, Hutchinson said, was expected to grow into the millions.
Now fortunate for me, my house just had very little damage but 1/2 block away from me this is the damage.

We already have it mostly cleaned up, and waiting for the owners insurance companies to do their part, so that we can get these friends back in their homes.
And we all did it with smiles on our face, many tears, and just hard work.
This brought back the thoughts of this community here at WA.
How great of a community this place really is. how the team work and the help you receive from the members and the pay it forward that we all learn and enjoy doing.
I feel very special to have my community were I live. and I feel very special to be a part of this great community here at WA.

It's a miracle that no one was severely hurt with all that damage.
Hopefully, the insurance companies will have a quick response and everyone can begin to get things back to normal. It looks like there is still a lot of work ahead. Wish you all the best, my friend!

I never dreamed of this happening here. and with your hurricanes, I was worried about you because you get those every year. You will never know when one will get you.
I have a friend in key west below you and I do not know how he handles it,
We got really lucky with the recent hurricane. Just a few limbs and we never lost power like a lot of folks in the area. The bad thing here is we get more tornadoes than hurricanes. It's a double whammy!
I could not live there then, I am looking for a warmer area for winter, but it looks like New Mexico is going to be 1 of my choices
Ya, it is looking nicer, and Arizona has too high of a tax base. and it is too hot in the summer
It was a mess, but we will move on and make it work.

So sorry to hear about the tornado and all of the damage to your neighbors and friends. Glad to hear that for the most part you and your family are OK. People in your community are very lucky to have your help and support. You are so supportive to all of us. I am sure you are the same in Utah as well.

Tornadoes are a real danger and I've been through a number of them including the massive one on April 27, 2011 in Tuscaloosa, Al.
I lost my business in that one -- I was in a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse that was reduced to a twisted pile of metal in the parking lot....at least part of it. Most of I we never saw again.
Odd thing was, 12 days earlier an F1 hit my street!

My heart goes out to those who were affected by the storm. I am very grateful to God that you and your property came through mostly unscathed and unhurt. Take care and you are in our prayers.

As I understand, no lives were lost. Anyway, the tornado is the scary thing. I am glad that you and your family is okay as members in the community. I wish that everything would be sorted in the best way. All the best:)
