Is facebook profile stalkers app a scam?

I tried to find out before I clicked it but top results seemed to say it was fine - but when I clicked it said would not unlock till I accepted an offer, the teeny weeny weeny print said it would cost be 5 x $2 to click that offer

so I didn't - but it was too late, trouble had kicked off!

- it had already gotten into my facebook as an app and facebook made it look kosher too

- but when I deleted it I suddenly started getting tons of messages from friends all over the place asking wtf - the app had done a big picture of me with many 6 names beside me as stalkers to my profile...omg

To make it worse it then started sending messages to random pages of that photo and those names and inserting them into conversations like I was taking part in the conversations - so then pages started contacting me saying wtf?

My profile is serious, people come to read my latest updates on stopping 5G, only to be told they were stalkers and also potentially scammed so it totally undermined me

total scam imo!

Hi Mary, sorry to read of your experience.

The internet space is just unsafe there days. Sometimes you just wonder what the world is turning to.

It's always safer to ignore and/or delete any post in your space that you are not certain about.

I wish you well.

thanks Segun!

There are lots of those on FB. They get resurrected every so often and totally innocent people end up getting their page highlighted as a hacker/scammer or whatever it is at that moment.
Always check to find out where it comes from first and ditto with any posts you might share that appear in your timeline.
There are many dodgy ones going about this time of year.
An Pandora advert appeared year after year. They were fake, the price told people that but they still went ahead and ordered then complained. Virtually every comment was a complaint. I reported it, as did others, I informed the real Pandora but its money to FB and that seems to be all they care about.

wow - yes, we can so easily get taken off guard on facebook, you clearly could run some training on the fb pitfalls here!

I rarely go on FB now, it's hopeless for business unless you pay and keep on paying, it's also too time consuming now.
I just have a few automated posts running through my business page daily. A token presence now.
It's a shame because it used to be really good for small businesses.

Sounds like an app to stay away from.

I quit everything Facebook 10 months ago. Nothing on that platform can be trusted. Good luck dealing with them

It appears from research it is a scam.

Here is a link to WHAT I BELIEVE is happening and a key point in this article is "Needless to say, you never do find out who has really viewed your Facebook page or Twitter profile – but you have helped put some cash in the pocket of the scammers".

thing is even if you don't take their offer they've performed some real nasty tricks on you - I didn't pay them but they used my photo as bait commenting on facebook groups all over the place and they called my friends stalkers and I'm surprised fb lets them do that, except fb is so big it's too hard find someone to talk to, I suppose they'd give us a robot these days!

Yes Mary, FB is so big perhaps so big that it has opened up a can of worms for scammers to infiltrate a huge system. I personally do not like FB and never have. Good luck....
Brad
