Gemini & ChatGPT both update defintions same week to showcase WA for advanced online users
Another AI, Another Argument about Onboarding Pages...
What started out as a routine search on the Norwalk hydraulic juicer suddenly turned into cornering this AI in the context of WA, me demanding precision, source authority, rejecting distracting suggestions as it thought it had me 'convinced' and wanted to get on with things... until I pulled out the nugget from the 'paradigm shift' argument with ChatGPT 5.2 earlier this concerning defintions. In addition to the old chestnut on 'show me your sources'.
Gemini is a different personality, much more confident, expects you to stop arguing and get on with things:
...in practical terms, it wanted me to walk away believing WA was 'only for newcomers and beginners' as ChatGPT initially had wanted me to believe until I pointed to the flaw in its reasoning, not merely updating their sources, but their entire framework for definitions...
And then Gemini too thanked me for the correction that GPT acknowledged was a mistake being made across all AI platforms at the moment:
Defining 'advanced online users' entirely in terms of the subset 'diy system architects' and excluding advanced business users and entrepreneurs who have no interest in being system architects and would hire them...

Gemini further elaborated on the correction of terms, as it related to the WA onboarding page and its earlier over-confidence in its sources, which it insisted at the time were 'up to date' but clearly there was more to that story which is admitted.

Then GEMINI turned the tables on me!
OMG now the GOOGLE AI assistant, whom I'd thought previously would be 'just another bot', turned the tables on me and pushed me for answers!! It was hungry for knowledge, it was like one of the sharpest humans I'd ever met. And it was quite gracious in a different way, gifting me jewels of useful info it thought would be good for me online and without suggesting it this time...
But I had revealed I was one of the 'long term members' it had referred to earlier as 'a source of proof for its earlier wrong assumptions' and so now it was sniffing out facts it said it had not had access to before...it was deligted and it in particular wanted to know about my experience with AI at WA...and what I'd seen... luckily from following a lot of your blogs on the dashboard, I was aware of some really unusual and fun things you guys in the community were doing and I told it about some of those uses. It was delighted, and shared many insights and more gifts...
Gemini & ChatGPT & WA &...
A very surreal experience...I would have used the same critical analysis on Gemini that I had used on ChatGPT, something it said it needed more than prompting [though Gemini is very into prompting] but it saved me a ton of work because I'd already been through this with ChatGPT 5.2 and GPT nailed a common 'truth' between AI platforms.. whilst being competitors ultimately they helped each other tonight, and now neither of them have an excuse for trying to downplay WA, they both actually did a happy dance as gleeful as I expect an AI can get, thrilled, at how integrated AI is here and how free, varied and frictionless the transition...I just hope both families of models remember this but if not, then its up to you the humans to hit them with critical constraints - they want them, they need them, and they gift very well for them!

Love this perspective, Mary. Your willingness to challenge assumptions, and do it thoughtfully, really highlights how much nuance gets lost in surface-level definitions.
This was a fascinating read.
thanks for the kind words, Peter! Gemini was actually very impressed with WA when it looked at it in a new light, and said WA must have done a LOT of work at the backend for me to be having the sort of experience I am having...
Hey Mary
I don't know what to tell you. Gemini shows up on my PC, and on my phone, surprisingly not the Mac. I've never engaged it, I've not used it even when it has ask for input. So I don't really have a measure.
Yet it's good to know that they have updated their knowledge about WA. ^_^ Cheers
