Advice on PHP Update Required Please Can we Ignore it?
I have this warning on several sites at the moment and I see some questions on the dashboard are receiving different answers so has anyone got something definitive as 'unless you've got issues' is not to reassuring, and I don't know what moving to another server means either, nor 'get support to update it' doesn't tie in with what support are telling peeps ie to ignore it. And then if we go onto a browser search we get 'Don't ignore PHP upate' first thing up.
I appreciate we normally don't have to worry about any maintenance stuff like that at WA, the work usually gets taken care of in the background - so should we really ignore this now?
Be nice to get an official statement.
Mary

I am gonna trust site support and ignore. They sent me a message to ignore it and I intend to do just that
Imagine the work they'd have saved themselves if we had a noticeboard telling us what was going on lol
Marion and I share space on google under the search term "wealthy affiliate video resources."
I love the smile in your profile picture. It is Grace saving.
Thank you.
Let's see what happens.
Funny.
PHP should have been updated yonks ago, Mary. But, seriously, if the only issue you're having is the warning messages then I'd just ignore it. They will get around to doing the updates eventually.
However, if you're really concerned, ask them to move your sites to the new server. But remember not to make any changes to your sites until the move is complete. And do your own backup first.
Hi, Marion.
I just budded in.
Moz is gonna kill me.
So, does PHP mean moving to other servers or staying where we are?
Paul @PMindra
Thanks Marion!
a couple of weeks back just about everything wasn't working on a couple of sites, it was horrific and site support kept 'fixing' it so now to see this is it really coincidence! Well at the moment I think I'm ok but I've been away a couple of weeks so time will tell...
PHP is techie stuff that runs on the servers. All hosting companies use it for WordPress websites. But there are old versions and new versions of PHP. WA's older servers are running an old version of PHP but the newer servers are running a newer version. Eventually, all the servers at WA will be running on the newer versions of PHP. In the meantime, if you're not experiencing any PHP related problems with your site there's no need to do anything.
Hang in there. I think this might be a bit funny.
We could have some fun "linking."

very confusing messages coming from them though so wish we got something clear from the bosses
From what I understand through the conversation here is that the new upgrade to PHP which is actually HPP acronymically correct is included in our back-office operations.
Eventually, over the time allowed for the upgrade, everyone gets upgraded.
If you want your upgrade to be excelled, it can be done by making a request to support and then following their directions.
At least I think that is how it works.
I have a ticket into support.
Anything else on Facebook?
Hello LMM! Long time no see. I've been primarily absent from WA for the past year due to life getting in the way in a major way. Thanks for asking this important question. HRH
Here's the message I got from support on this issue:
"We have some really big things coming in the coming weeks and months related to our web hosting platform. One of these is a major upgrade to an entirely brand new, updated, incredibly fast class of servers.
We are currently running a BETA and are inviting anyone who needs PHP7 to upgrade.
The new server-class includes:
PHP 7.2
Maria DB 10.3 (MySQL)
Improved SiteSpeed
Improved Security
Faster Server Response
...Plus MANY other improvements and upgrades
We expect all sites on the new server class to experience faster loading, offer an all-around EXCELLENT user experience, and raise the bar for our already outstanding reputation as being a leader in the WordPress Hosting industry.
We would be happy to invite you to place one or more of your sites on the new server class.
This is still in BETA and is not available to all members of WA, however, we do feel that it's ready for live sites to upgrade. Would you like us to move to the new server class? You will experience no downtime."
If you can ask them to move your site or wait a few weeks.
hm that's the second message I've seen peeps get from site support and though you got offered it the other person didn't unless they had 'issues', it sort of suggests they may sort it out in a couple of weeks though? if nothing wobbles in between time!
