Influence
Influence, have you ever been influenced into doing something or have you been an influence to others.
Influence is the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.
Influences can be good or bad. I know I have been influenced both ways. Have you?
I think everyone can relate to someone who influenced you in a bad way. Especially When they were growing up, although we may think of it as peer pressure.
I was pressured into riding my BMX bike to a different town. No big deal right, I was 13 at the time and the other town was 23 miles away. Of course I used to ride with older kids and we wanted to follow. Mind you I wasn't the youngest, my friends brother was only 9 years old. These BMX bike for those who aren't familiar with them are 1 speed and not comfortable. We made it there in one piece but we were very tired. My friends brother starts crying and says he wants to go home. No cell phones back then, but we had to call our parents to pick us up. Not good! I don't remember what punishment my friends got but my father went to town on my backside first with a yardstick (that broke) then a clothes hanger. Back then it was called discipline, today it is child abuse.
I have also influenced people in my life, and I know not always in a positive way. I talked my friend into helping me get a girls address so I could send her flowers for her birthday. Until today my friends never forgot this and we still have a good laugh about it. So this girl I liked lived in a cul de sac. It was midnight and we had drove by 5 or 6 times and couldn't see the address on the house. So I influenced my friend to ride his skateboard, this is not the new quite skateboards but the old LOUD clay wheeled ones up her driveway to get the address. To make a long story short, we took another 2 hours explaining to the police what we were doing. Why we were in the neighborhood waking everyone up. Anyhow, I got the address, sent the flowers and got rejected lol.
I hope this brings a smile to others and let's people know to be careful of how you influence people.
