Creating "Life" In Your Articles.
With a year under my belt I've felt a strong sense of passion and desire to start giving back and sharing some of the tips and tricks I've learned in the past year to help out current and new comers to the industry. I also feel like it's finally time to become an Ambassador to WA, because I believe in and trust this community and the information being shared, but more on that in another post.
Let's get to the meat of this topic.
In this blog post I'll be using video games and immersion as an example comparison, and everyone who's played single player or multiplayer games have the best experience when they feel immersed in a living world that can pull a user in to have a new perspective they might not otherwise get to enjoy.
There are various aspects of a video game that have to come together to create this "life" immersion that leads to a living breathing world.
It was created EXPERTLY when the Harry Potter books were written and when the movies were created, and countless other writers.
Many video games also include cities that have a living, breathing populace that makes someone feel like they are in a realistic and believable environment. Assassin Creed does an amazing job with the crowds in their cities as does the newly released Starfield cities.
We must do the SAME thing in our niches, our markets, with our products be our own or affiliated.
If a customer comes to your webpage and it seems dead it will deter many people, as a living webpage will help garner trust with your customer and encourage them to proceed further, ideally to the sale we so desire, or to find that knowledge we lovingly wish to share.
A huge part of this is commentary on your articles, posts, and products!
But how to you create this starting out? Who wants 100 blog posts with no comments on any of them?
Well you can start by giving back to the WA community to earn credits that will in turn let you call for comments on your chosen webpages. I started out doing this and still do as I consider it to be a great method for creating real, living content on my webpage.
The next thing you can do, which I highly advise any new webpage that wants to grow to have is creating an inner circle of friends and family that comment on your posts.
There are however some very key rules when it comes to this method, as you simply cannot have every single one of your posts bombarded by the same group of people, as it will begin to look suspicious to newly attracted regulars and wise onlookers if you're not strategic about it.
The idea here is inconsistent consistency.
Have them act and behave like a normal person would.
What do I mean by this?
Well MOST people don't check their news outlets or blogs every single day, and often not even every single week, so I have my group drop in every few weeks, make comments on some of the articles they find interesting, then back off for a few more weeks.
This creates life on the webpage where it may be lacking, and makes your website seem more of an immersive and active environment than it otherwise would, but like I said, it's a fine tuning to discover the balance you need.
The more active, larger, trusted, and more you have in your community will allow them to take part in things more often, but especially in the beginning on your website use this tactic sparingly!
Hopefully this blog post can help some of you get your new sites off the ground a little faster, but just Like Gordon Ramsay will scream at chefs who over season, don't over do it or you will quickly get flagged for someone who could be using a spam bot.
