Presenting yourself - a dental analogy

As we age the intelligence of the interment and the product markets age and adapt with us! Equations and algorithms follow us all our lives.

Demographically matching marketing isn't just for the other guy. It's for you. Your age is matched to benefits and features of products far and wide. Some are placed by web browser cookies and some by recorded experiences.

Who can count the number of times they get travel offers from Price Line, Travelocity and Orbitz after completing a trip. The offers seem to come more from these surrogate "partners" than from actual hotels, airlines or rental car companies themselves.

This is no less true than in the medical and dental fields. A few years back I worked in a Network operating Center and the general television was left on for occasional diversion. Though I didn't have the need, many in my age group were assaulted with ads for wheeled scooters. I laughed and said If the Good Lord wanted us to have these things, he'd have given us wheels!

I'm to the stage that has the need for crowns and dental appliances. And wouldn't you know in magazines and in the electronic media there are ads galore for implants and prosthetic devices.

If I had dental needs 30 years ago I would have gotten quite a different message. I see dental needs as quite necessary. We spend a good portion of our lives chewing and consuming.

For that age group and most of the general public however, messages are tailored to younger needs. Leafing through most magazines you do not see dental ads targeted to fillings, replacements and even root canals

The all consuming target attribute is YOUR SMILE! It is overwhelming more important than any other need. Many things feed into this appeal from teeth whitening to caps put in for cosmetic beauty purposes only. Without an official check it is apparent "smile" is the root keyword involved!

Such appeal is tailored to self promotion and vanity so necessary at youthful ages. Essential to young competitive careerists is how we present ourselves!

Now we are in the process of marketing ourselves and our attributes most everyday in this great forum. Focusing on your website, does your site?

  • smile at your audience
  • welcome them to your niche world
  • engage with the proper cosmetics of proper format and design
  • engage with a rich visual experience
  • Invite general engagement with a well placed contact page, about me and disclosure integrity
  • have the detail in place to do the heavy lifting (chewing) necessary to fulfil it's purpose beyond the cosmetic gateway

We must always be aware that presenting our self is our self and put that message across unfailingly!

Whatever you do remember to remain truthfull

The smile is paramount to presenting ourselves in a very positive light, that we are joyful to present our products to our audience, and are happy in our online business. That's why I chose my picture that represents me.
