I have been stuck on godaddy because their up-selling tactics are just confusing me....how and what am I supposed to buy??

I have 8 domains to register ...but I only want 1 or 2 here to test WA options---I dont want to pay a transfer fee for all 8 back and forth

AND I have a domain for my boyfriend but he wants to try designing it himself or using a godaddy pkg

I am going to stay 1 month minimum, see how it works out....

advice on how I choose what I need is appreciated.

See you all soon!

This is exactly why I recommend using Namecheap.com. That is what I recommend within the training here for the simple fact that they don't have the inundating upsells that Godaddy has.

And yeah, there should not be any transfer fees at all. So what I would suggest is you go to namecheap, pick out these domains that you want to buy and check-out. It actually allows you to update the DNS settings as part of the buying process, making it a one step set-up with namecheap.

I've never paid a transfer fee?

As Rich stated below, just point your domains (DNS) here to WA.

I also used GoDaddy to purchase many of my domains and didn't appreciate all the "extra stuff". Then I heard they partook in some "elephant shenanigan" and that was enough for me to buy elsewhere. I've recently purchased from Namecheap and am very happy.

They don't have upsells, they simply display more offers & features before you actually buy your domain. Just skip all that extra stuff. The only thing to worry about buying is the .com domain (unless you get a free .info domain with it) & the hosting unless you're hosting at WA.

Hi. I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, and it's my noob point of view, but you can leave your names at GoDaddy or NameCheap for good. I don't believe you can "transfer" them to WA anyway. You just point one or two of them at your website(s) here by modifying the DNS entries at GoDaddy or whoever. Does that help at all?! Best. Rich.

I use Namecheap instead for that very reason, they only upsell WhoISGuard which I actuall ybuy as its useful (hides your personal data)
