New FTC Disclosure

I tried to copy and paste this, but it would not allow me, so here goes...lol

I got an email from Ebay a couple of days ago since I am an affiliate with them regarding new FTC Disclosures. I have not checked into it yet, but have begun seeing this on other affiliate pages here an there, so I wanted to share with the community just in case.

If you are sharing an affiliate link on social media, one of the following is now required: #ad or #promotion.

When advertising on your site, whether it is a page or a post, any time there is an affiliate link or anything that is going to link to a potential sale, it is now required to include words like "sponsored", "promotion", "paid ad", or even just "ad" each and every time.

FTC is claiming that placing a disclosure somewhere at the bottom of the page only one time is not sufficient because the potential customer may not get down that far if they click off of the website to follow that link, so it is up to the affiliate to make sure the customer knows that if they purchase a product that we may get a portion of that sale.

Like I said, I have not researched this, but have been seeing this on affiliate pages, so, just in case it is accurate, I wanted to get it out to my WA family.

I guess I know what I am doing today...

Is it adequate to supply all your personal information or documents before being registered as an affiliate marketer. Kindly let me know. Thanks for the info

I have not had to provide any personal information or documents at all. And in going through both trainings (Bootcamp and Certification) I have not heard anything of this either. If that changes I will certainly let you know though.

I've seen someone disclose before every single link in their blog and it really disrupted the flow of the blog, and if I didn't know about links already I would wonder how dubious it was to proceed, so I think we need to kick back at this thing and make sure it suits the bloggers too!

My thoughts exactly! I am still so new at this, though, that I would not have a clue where to begin. It really does disrupt the flow and I think it's going to do nothing but harm us in the long run if we have to incorporate this in the manner they are stating.

yes, rules written by people who are not using them! we are trained into acceptance but will have to get some muscle going as bloggers...

Yes I also have heard about it and being seeing it. I have not had time to check it out but from who I have been seeing doing this I think it is valid.
