Don't give up your day job
I was told some years ago not to give up my day job when I was learning to sing.
So this could apply to operating your own business of affiliate marketing. When starting out you should draw up a business plan, there are numerous free plans on google. It covers alot of material like for example, your weaknesses and strenghths, opposition, market research and analysis, business strategy and marketing, income and expenditure.
You don't need an elaborate plan just an easy one if you havn't done one before the more practice you do the easier they get. You need to know your goals and how you will achieve them and what happens if the goal posts have moved. Just keep updating your business plan and learn to set realistic targets.
Don't spend hours of your time doing plans as the main focus is internet marketing and making money

It makes sense not to give up your day job, until you're really comfortable with your income online.
I agree, keep your day job until you no longer need it. When I got started online I initially had a job for a year and then I phased it out and went full time. :)
Yes, I agree, if you have a day job keep it until you've built up your business! In my case my day job laid me off, but still looking for a new day job. In the meantime I will be building my site, and I will also be googling to find a free business plan. This is something I had not thought about doing, but it makes sense!
Yes, it's great to do this part time so that you build up a following before you take the plunge especially if it's your only source of income. It takes time to build and get ranked well in Google.
That is great advice!
