Making Stubborn HTML Links open in their own New Place/Tab

I have been annoyed when I would get a nice HTML Banner Link or other HTML Link that I liked, but when I put it on my website, it not open in its own new place/tab like I prefer. I tried to find answers on ways to fix that issue, but found many different answers. Most of them complicated and/or did not work. Finally, I found a Technique that worked the best and easiest for me. Now, for the sake of my Memory, and hopefully help others with the same issue, I am going to share what I did to resolve my Stubborn Link issue.

I will use a Wealthy Affiliate Banner Html code as an example. Basically, the Bold place is all that needs to be changed, and it has worked for me on all Stubborn HTML Links that would not open in their Own New Place/Tab.

The Top HTML Code is the Original HTML Code, and the Bottom HTML Code is the change that will make Link Open in its Own New Place/Tab

How To Make Stubborn HTML LINKS Like some Banner Links and Other Stubborn HTML Links, maybe even some Amazon Links, Open In New Place/TAB

<a href="http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com?a_aid=Your Aff. ID"><img src="https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/banners/show/wealth

y_affiliate_going_up.jpg" border="0" /></a>

<a href="http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com?a_aid=Your Aff. ID"><img src="https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/banners/show/wealthy_affiliate_going_up.jpg t arget="_blank" /></a>

Just Delete the space after t in t arget. The extra space is there because that is the only way the Blog would publish that part.

Thanks For Reading!

I wish Happiness and Success To All,

Michael

Larry, I was trying to help people, but the Blog will not keep all the information that is needed to make the change. When I publish, it keeps erasing the target="_blank" part.

target="_blank" is the usual way to get links to open in a new window.
So, in your example, replace border="0" with target="_blank"

Should work.

IMc, It looks like part of my Blog does not show. Replace the border="0" with target"=_blank" is the correct thing to do!
Michael

Ok. My mistake. I told you to add it in the wrong place :-)

Should add it to the Aff ID link not the image - I need more coffee.

I can't cut & paste into the reply as WA dsoesnt let you do that with links with ? in them.

But you need to add the bit of code to the end of the link.
Now: a_aid=Your Aff. ID">
Change to:
a_aid=Your Aff. ID" target="_blank">

No, it is just that My blog keeps deleting target="_blank" when I save it.

Have you tried typing it in a word doc or notepad and then taking a screen shot? Then you could just upload the image to your blog.

That's weird. No idea why it does that. If you type anything then the wordpress editor should save it automatically.

AngelHall, I have tried many ways but still would not publish like that. So I improvised as best as I could. Thanks for Suggestions!
Michael

IMc, It does, but then when Publish, it deletes that part. Just another mystery to me. Hopefully, people will figure out what I have done when they read everything! Thanks for your time!
