Hi guys

Im a little bit confused. Can anyone out there break down keyword research and how to do it in laymans terms or step by step? and do i need to put keywords in every bit of content that i write? and if so how many? I have watched some videos and will keep trying to get my head round it but i just need something to make the penny drop.

cheers guys

Mike

Just go here:

This helped me out allot. I went through it many times.

I can totally relate to your confusion. When I first started I struggled with the concept as well. Here's what I tend to do. I usually have a concept or problem in my mind related to my niche. So for instance I know one of the problems people face in the work at home industry is trying to figure out if something is a scam. So I would write an article about how to avoid scams. I would suggest things I've done that helped me avoid it. I would just write this all naturally without thinking of keywords. Once I'm done with the article, I'll follow the steps Kyle & Carson have provided in their keyword research lessons to find keywords related to the article I just wrote. So I might do a search for work at home scams or avoid work at home scams.

I'll pick some keywords then to sprinkle back into my article or title. So now it may just be a simple matter of swapping out a word or sentence or two with Keywords that my research has shown people are looking for and aren't too competitive.

I think people find it a lot easier to write articles when you do it this way. You won't feel like you're be confined and will write naturally and a lot more effectively. Eventually once your website gets more popular and has a strong following then you can write more freestyle articles that aren't keyword focused. But to get traffic initially you want to try to include those keywords. But if you approach it the way I suggested above, it should be a lot easier assuming you follow the steps in the keyword lessons.

I hope that makes sense.

You're welcome Mike!

I'd recommend https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-use-the-keyword-search-tool-on-wa as good starting point. You put a a different but relevant keyword in each page or post. For example, if your keyword was "prune orchids" you put it in the title "how to prune orchids" and in the first para "the best way to prune orchids is..." and that's it. I certainly don't use keywords for everything, it's more important to give a visitor to your site the best experience possible rather than focus on what a search engine wants, they don't buy anything. :) Rich.
