9 Month Update - 4 Sales! (This isn't going to be a positive post.)

Hey everyone,

I know it's been a while since I've made a post, and I'd like to imagine that I've been "too busy" writing content for my website, but no matter how much I do, I am always left with the thought that I could be doing more at any given moment.

My total earnings thus far since I joined WA in May of 2017 are about $110. This is about 9 months since starting.

Now, most people would give up at this point and call it quits because in reality, you should be making a pretty substantial income from your affiliate marketing by now (speaking about myself mainly).

Why do I say that?

In reality, 9 months isn't a long time at all for your website to mature, but 9 months is long enough to drive a few hundred people to your website very month.

It's at the 9 month mark where I am beginning to realise that I might have to change my course of action and start a different website soon, but I am dedicated to seeing it through until the 24 month mark.

If sales haven't been happening at 9 months it's pretty much a guarantee that something is fishy or going wrong in what I am doing and I am devoted to figuring it out because clearly it hasn't been working to the extent to which I want it to.

Don't just keep bashing your head against the wall like I do...

If you've been writing for 9 months with HUNDREDS of Amazon (and other affiliate links) on your site, and aren't making at least a few hundred bucks a month, something might seriously be wrong with your style or your writing (like I believe to be the case with my own).

If you've gone this long like me without results, like me, then I commend you because 99.99999% of people would have long given up by now.

Whereas it's commendable that you have such intense resolve and perseverance, it could be time to switch gears on your current website or maybe toss your idea in favour of doing some more extensive research on how to actually make money by blogging.

Mindlessly slamming out hundreds of articles without any success is probably just going to net you the same results - just like it has for me - zero sales aside from less than half a dozen fluke sales.

Learn how to market products to people that are ready to pull the trigger, and then SMASH your competition.

Word count - that's one of the most important ranking signals for Google. If your competition is writing 5,000 word articles with 15-20 affiliate links, write 7,000 word articles with a handful more links.

The reason is: In my own personal experience using search engines over the last 15-20 years and in my own personal opinion, ranking anything less than the top 5 results on Google and Bing is useless.

If your articles aren't getting in front of peoples' eyes on Google, no one will read the content and no one is going to buy diddly-squat from your website.

The #1 thing is getting eyes on your page, and driving sales by targeting purchase-ready people with intent and transparent promotion.

These are the things I've learned, and it's supposed to get easier with time - but for me it's just getting harder and harder and more frustrating.

Affiliate marketing should get easier with time, especially after 9 months, but in my experience the more I learn the more I realise how much I have no clue what the f*ck I am doing and the more frustrating it ultimately becomes for me.

I feel like this will persist until that 24 month mark when hopefully everything clicks, but until then I foresee many, many, many more fruitless and frustrated months packed with failures (and tiny successes) that may or may not pay off in the end.

We all took a chance here at WA, and after 3-4 random sales, I can't say I am making a living - but I do know that after 9 months, with a correct and focused approach that affiliate online marketers should be making at least 1,000 dollars per month.

That's my opinion, and I am sticking to it!

Why would you want to write content for this long without seeing any results? It doesn't have to be this way! And it shouldn't - but unless we know what we're doing, it will be this way.

Thanks for reading.

Well said.

Randy

I hear and understand you very well.

Hi Mike,

I am a total newbie vs you with websites at the very beginning of the journey, but my 2 comments would be:

1. Fully agree with you-you should not give up. You might be somewhere close to the tipping point.

2. Maybe you could improve the content in a way it can be monetized better. My advice is to go and check the Gogetters videos and posts of Bo Tipton (just type gogetters on the search bar). He gives golden nuggets of advice how to rearrange the contents of the site in a way it drastically increases the conversion rate.

Anton

Thank you for sharing your 9-month experience here in WA. I feel your pain and wish I had the answer for you, but, that being said, I too would seek review of your site from the "experts" here and follow their suggestions to help with your issue.
I greatly admire your tenacity,

riley roman

Hi Mike,
I feel every word you just said! I also stuck at a 9-month mark. And you at least made $110! I had 0 sales. So as you said, I could give up on the whole idea of affiliate marketing, but I kinda got used to spending at least an hour a day typing :D
So I decided to change the course I was in (specifically, my niche). I also re-read the course from the beginning. I actually realized some of my mistakes I made from the first couple of videos. I hope my new niche will be more successful but I guess we shall see.
I wish you that your website will start generating you income that you would like to have very very soon! Good luck and all the best!

maybe get someone to review your site(s) to see if they can give you a clue as to what is wrong.

That would be amazing if someone could do that for sure. I think that would be one of the most helpful pieces of advice one could ask for.

Your solution appears to be more lead development and longer posts. Appears worth trying!

The "solution" I am employing is still only based on thin air... and I need to see the proof of concept myself first to believe it :)

Sorry If I have to say it, but you do not believe in yourself and I can hear out of your statement that you do not want to look into this deeper. You think someone comes up with a magic solution to your problem. That will not happen. The first step is believing in yourself and be coachable. There is the training nowhere from Bo it is called go-getters, follow that he has great advice. Honestly you never stop learning. Open your Mind to financial success and dare to be financially successful. go to Bo's profile and start with week one.
You might make an action plan for 90 Days than 180 Days and then 360 Days.
You are what you think, and If you think the next 10month is going to be hard and frustrating, wish granted. You attract what you sent out.
I am sorry if I offended you with this post, I apologize in advance.
I believe in you and you come that far, just start a different approach and believe in your success.
Cheers Sylvia
