Listen to the Instructor

I can remember the first time I jumped into the cockpit of a Cessna 152 - 2 seat trainer. It seemed overwhelming. Going through the inspection, the checklist, the instructor explaining all the gauges and switches, and I looked at him totally lost.

He looked at me and laughed and said I will be fine, just follow his instructions and we would be back on the ground before You know it. I still remember the static run up, and the taxi down the runway. Maneuvering the plane with my feet, was something new to say the least. Bringing the throttle back to attain 55 knots rotation speed, pulling back on the yoke, and we were air born.

The adrenaline and excitement overtook the fear, as we were climbing to altitude heading west and letting me just get the feel of the plane. My instructor was giving instructions, and casually pointing out landmarks as we made our way around the Michigan skies. Before you knew it we were on final approach, and 3 wheels on the ground heading back to the hanger where it all began.

If I had to take that flight by myself, chances are it could have killed me. The trainer was certified, had hours as a pilot, understood the plane, gauges, radio equipment, and most of all experienced.

Similarly here at WA, listen to those with experience. Follow the training step by step. Attend every training available, Ask questions, and take advice from those that are willing to mentor you. That want to see you succeed as well.

The fastest way to succeed is slowing down, and following the proven steps you need to take to get you to your destination. When you get in a hurry and forget certain steps, that is when things get out of control.

Listen to the instructors and those who have been where you are, and you will be at your chosen destination before you know it.
