World Mental Health Crisis
I know this post is a day late, but the topic of mental health is crucial to remember.
Outside the United States, while there is no official global "World Mental Health Month," there is a designated day, "World Mental Health Day" (which was on October 10th) -- in the United States, May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month.
During these times, various activities and initiatives are organized to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage discussions about mental well-being.
These initiatives often include educational programs, public awareness campaigns, community events, and opportunities for people to share their stories and experiences related to mental health.
It's always crucial to recognize this significant problem, which has always been present and should always be a focus of research and attention.
Key objectives and themes of World Mental Health Day/ Month typically include:
Raising Awareness: The day reduces the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health conditions. It encourages open conversations about mental health and the importance of seeking help when needed.
Education: World Mental Health Day/ Month often features educational activities and resources to inform the public about various mental health issues, their prevalence, and the available treatment and support options.
Advocacy: It is a platform for advocating for better mental health policies, services, and resources at local, national, and global levels. Advocates work to ensure that mental health is prioritized.
Support: Many organizations use this day to provide support and resources for individuals struggling with mental health issues or seeking ways to maintain good mental well-being.
Reducing Stigma: Breaking down mental health stigma is a crucial aspect of World Mental Health Day/ Month and involves challenging stereotypes, discrimination, and misconceptions about mental health conditions.
In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on young people's mental health. Many campaigns and initiatives aim to support and empower young individuals, recognizing that mental health challenges often begin during adolescence and early adulthood.

Here are a few strategies for maintaining and promoting good mental health:
- Self-Care: Practicing self-care involves taking time for activities and practices that help you relax, recharge, and reduce stress. This can include hobbies, exercise, mindfulness, meditation, or simply taking breaks when needed.
- Social Connections: Building and maintaining healthy relationships with friends and family can provide emotional support and reduce feelings of loneliness. Social connections are essential for mental well-being.
- Physical Health: Physical health and mental health are closely connected. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep can significantly impact mental well-being.
- Mindfulness and Meditation: Mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep breathing exercises, can help reduce stress and increase self-awareness, leading to better mental health.
- Limit Stressors: Identifying and managing sources of stress in your life is essential. This can include time management, setting boundaries, and seeking help when necessary.
- Seeking Help: Don't hesitate to contact mental health professionals when facing mental health challenges. Therapy and counseling can provide valuable support and tools for managing mental health conditions.
- Positive Self-Talk: Challenge negative thought patterns and practice positive self-talk. How you think about yourself and your circumstances can significantly impact your mental health.
- Creative Expression: Engage in creative activities like art, music, writing, or any form of self-expression. These activities can be therapeutic and a source of joy.
- Limit Substance Use: Excessive alcohol or drug use can negatively impact mental health. Seek help if you're struggling with substance abuse.
- Educate Yourself: Learn about mental health and mental illnesses. Understanding these topics can help reduce stigma and increase empathy for others and yourself.
- Supportive Environment: Surround yourself with supportive, understanding, and empathetic people. A safe and non-judgmental environment is crucial for mental well-being.
- Community Involvement: Being part of a community, volunteering, or participating in social activities can foster a sense of belonging and purpose.
Mental health is a personal and ongoing journey. What works for one person may not work for another, so exploring different strategies and seeking professional help is essential.

In an increasingly fast-paced world, understanding mental health and well-being has never been more important.
As the modern world demands more of our attention, we become further disconnected from our own needs and happiness, leading to a population where anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues are common.
The key is to prioritize and invest in your mental health as you would your physical health.

I’ve personally learned the hard way how easy it is to overlook your own well-being when juggling responsibilities. What helped me was stepping back, finding community, and even researching things I once ignored, like how Mobe https://www.pissedconsumer.com/mobe/RT-F.html impacted others who were seeking personal growth or financial freedom. It’s eye-opening how emotional health connects to all parts of life.
It is becoming increasingly more difficult to figure out who is supposedly sane in this insane world. You have young men who don’t hate one another fighting to the death and old men who do hate one another who don’t kill one another..
Change will happen, but not in my lifetime..
sorry a bit morbid first thing in the morning.. another night of insomnia.. on the plus, I got a lot done. 💫

Thank you, Steve…and thank you for your feedback. You a few nails on the head…even if somewhat of downer. Thank you for being honest!

Hi there, Mike.
Thank you for bringing this thought-provoking mental health crisis to our attention. There is a great need for more mental health services. Way too many people are falling victim to this disease.
The suicide rates among our youth have skyrocketed within the last few years.
The fentanyl deaths are compounding the statistics at an alarming rate. Just recently a young girl in her 20s and another young man in his 30s have lost their lives to suicide and fentanyl poisoning in CA.
Environment issues, socioeconomic limitations and social media has all played a part in the crisis that we are facing. We all know someone who has either taken their life or have attempted to. We can see this or hear about suicides every day.
There was 4500 fentanyl deaths in San Diego county. Some of these kids have lost their life unnecessarily. The substance abuse and mental health services
administration (SAMHSA ) Helpline is 1-800-662-4357. It is a free confidential helpline.

Thanks for sharing Mike,
We have a mental health week here in Australia, and there is a current program running to help stop stigma.
I believe every act of kindness can help and being able to listen to people that are in stress, rather than judging or jumping to a negative conclusion.
Kind regards
Erica
Great thoughts, Erica. I’m glad that Australia has dedicated a week to focus on this crisis — let’s hope the focus doesn’t stop after the week ends.
