Another milestone- and on to the next one!

I have made it clear in earlier blog posts that I'm having a blast at W.A., and that hasn't changed! I have had a couple of hard spots but got back on track pretty quickly. The biggest things I have had to learn is to pace myself and plan my content better.

One month at a time

I ran into a wall 9 days ago! We lost my father-in-law and buddy due to complications from surgery and I got in a funk and out of my routine for a few days. When I got back on the horse, I had what I can best describe as writers block, or my newest term blog bog ! LOL

I sat down to work on content for both my websites that I had started before the family loss and when I finished that up it was like my world of ideas dried up! I couldn't get it back to going. So I employed an idea I gleaned from a guy I follow on his website, podcast and YouTube channel. It's so profoundly easy it seems like anyone could figure it out, but I guess sometimes we just need a little common sense coaxing!

The magic content bullet

I asked some of my friends on a couple of Facebook groups what they were having trouble with and what they are stuck on in their online business. I got a total of 13 different answers. Each of those answers have become a subject for blog posts, and I have used each of the 13 for an e book I'm working on! I can't believe I'm 90% done with an e book !

Then I sat down this past Monday night and made a list for both sites of content based on questions I found on a website that's sole purpose is to convey questions people ask in a perspective niche. I would tell you the name of that site, but I'm not sure if it's allowed. I now have content ideas for the next month to do 3-4 blog posts per week on each website!

Chill time!

I'm not nuts about the idea really, but when I had my brain drain wall crash a couple of weeks ago I decided to take a break for a couple of days once a week. And it's that time. I decided to stick to the break schedule whether I feel like I need it or not.:(

Seems like a bad time with everything going on, but I'm gonna do it anyway so that I don't crash again. I'm a little obsessive and when I get on a roll I will keep going until I can't.

It's all good and I'll be back Sunday at 1:00 PM.

Sharing ideas....maybe someone can use them.

I guess the moral of the story is making suggestions to maybe help someone else:

  1. Stop, Download and make a list of upcoming content instead of trying to sit down and stare at your flashing little cursor with no idea what to write.
  2. Start the content with keyword research and give it a title and 5 or 6 headers to act as chapter headings for a mini e book. I did all my content this way as I got it worked out. Then you can go back and fill in the body of each section. Done!
  3. Use your Facebook Groups to get ideas of topics you can help with. Go to the search window on the left-hand side of each group and type in " I need help with", Does anyone know" and so forth. You'll have a page of ideas in 20 minutes.
  4. If you are interested in building an e-mail list use the content you create as chapters for an e book you can offer as a freebie in exchange for a name and e-mail address.
  5. Take a short break now and then. I talked to my buddy who got me involved in W.A. and he said he has a problem either getting time or motivation to work on his business. I can't imagine that. I set him up with a time management book by Tony Robbins . :)

I hope all you guys have a great weekend !

Mike

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. We do need to know when to take time for ourselves and do it We can all take something away from your post. What a great idea to communicate with your groups and get ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Marylou.

I'm sorry for your loss. I think it's important we take time for rest and reflection. Thanks for your great suggestions.
Debbie

My condolences on your loss. I enjoyed your post, it is helpful. I concur with you about taking time out, I am doing like you. I feel it is part of good business practice and it does take discipline to set a time aside each week to break off.

Sometimes we just have to take the time out Mike!

Nice to hear you bouncing back with some excellent advice to share!

Thanks

Wayne

Pretty hard when someone in the family moves on in such a way, however you do need to have regular breaks and your idea will work for you.

Once you get going with your new routine you will most likely find that your ideas will blossom after each mini-break.

All the best.
