All about changing your Life
The life you have today is not the life that you have to have tomorrow. That may sound like an oversimplification, but the truth is that we each make a choice everyday to continue to live the lives we already have; just getting out of bed each morning is a choice we make. We could always just decide to stay in bed all day.
There are plenty of reasons we don’t just stay in bed: financial obligations, personal obligations, social obligations. There are consequences that go along with the decision to change, but if you’re aware of the factors in play when you make a major change in your life, you’ll be able to deal with them.
What Do You Want to Do?
There are plenty of cases of people finding themselves without a direction in life, but that’s very different than choosing to make a specific change. Your odds of actually being able to carry out a major change in your life and make it permanent are a lot better if you go in with a specific goal and plan. Consider:
- What do you want to change?
- Where do you want to wind up?
Be as precise as possible.
Write out a description of what you want your life to look like, perhaps going so far as to describe what you expect a typical day will be like after you make this change. If you aren’t entirely sure what your end goal is yet, you may need to do some research. You may also consider making temporary changes in your life, such as planning a sabbatical to allow yourself to experiment with alternatives.
What’s Your Current Situation?
Clearly, the change you want to make means modifying large parts of how you currently live. However, you may need to identify just what parts of your life are in play before you move forward.
Finances First
Start with the financial aspects of your life, because those are likely to be the easiest to calculate. Go through your finances and figure out what your assets and liabilities are, both overall and on a monthly basis. A lot of your monthly bills may change depending on just how you want to change your life, but you want to make sure that financial consequences won't derail you as you’re making that change.

Hi Mike , interesting blog for today even though most of us that are here at WA are here for the reason of making life changes or choices. How we go about it depends on each persons situation at the time, which generally changes from day to day. Gets you thinking though ,food for thought. Thanks for the interesting read.
Well howdy mike, do you want to change things in your life? interesting blog, i have listened to people and some folks are happy and content, and some of them complain about how they are not happy, things like relationships, finances, demographics fall out of their mouth wrapped in frustration or sorrow. on the other hand i've listened to people (supposively have what everybody wants, family, money, stuff) express regrets, loneliness, discouragement. its funny, if you have the time to listen, it doesn't take people to long to figure out if somebody is content, or miserable and i think the reason why would be a driving force to whether they may consider change.
goals are important in my opinion whether you are looking for change or not. goals enable your mind to connect with reaching out for something instead of staying complacent. complacency to me is the worst state of mind, whether you are healthy or not, whether you are rich or poor achieving goals builds your confidence and invites satisfaction that i am doing something and hopefully something that may help somebody. you see, i have a piece of paper on my wall that i look at every day, "who's life have you improved today" at other times i write out other inspirational thoughts, but every day i hope to make somebody's life at least a little better, it helps me grow and people helping people, just love that stuff. you have a very blessed day my friend and keep blogging, i love it. :))
Your Good at what you do and I love the words you have to say,
I'm just like you I need to help somebody or as many people i can. I did a website on dontsmokequittoday.com I have gotten so many comments about it. I even had people quit from it and that makes me feel real good about myself. I am a people person who really cares about other people. Sometimes i get kicked in you know where but i take my chances. Thank you for the comment and I love your reply. Take care and thanks again Michael
