Hello everyone.

I have, what I hope, is a simple question.

I read an interesting post this morning from HeidiY about "High Ticket sales and Mentors" - I read the post and the answers with interest but to be honest it meant nothing to me as I do not understand the terminology or the context, there was talk of mentors costing money etc.

Could someone please explain these terms and the context to me?

Part of my ongoing learning here understanding the terminology used in the world of website building and affiliate marketing so ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you are all well and safe - Mike

oh my, I did not even know that you can edit a comment after you already published it.

Hi John, yes this is my natural inclinination. Many thanks Mike

Like anything else John, you just have to do your due diligence.

If you can find a shortcut to get rid of the shenanigans, you are better off.

I think having an honest mentor may not be a bad idea. As a newbie, you have an uphill battle ahead of you.

Hi Mike, split into two.....
High ticket refers to the cost of a particular service or product that is being promoted by individuals and by various methods, usually online in this instance.
It's a pretty subjective term because the cost element means different things to different people. What is high ticket (expensive) to one person might not be to another but, generally, I'd say anything that costs into the hundreds of dollars is getting towards "high ticket".
If you look around, a lot of high ticket products are in the 1,000 dollar plus bracket and some even higher. Of course, high cost doesn't necessarily mean high value. That's another perception based on somebody's own particular thought process.
Getting into high ticket usually, but not always, means having to purchase the product or service yourself before being able to market it and qualify for those tantalisingly high commissions.
That's not necessarily a bad thing as it can be argued that in order to promote the product you ought to know what it's all about and what value it might bring to a prospectice purchaser.
To my mind, only my opinion of course, being an affiliate marketer should release you from the obligation of having to purchase something before you are then able to promote it. Also, I have never heard of a car sales person having to buy the model of car they're selling in order to sell them, have you???
Some might argue that Wealthy Affiliate requires you to purchase the product before being able to promote it and that's true but to me the value of WA is contained within it's wide variety of services and not in the ability to promote it and make money from it. That's incidental and completely voluntary.
Apropos mentors, yes the lure of a high ticket product might be that you have access to mentors within that platform but again, just my opinion, you don't necessarily need to pay out significant sums to avail yourself of a mentor.
Mentors come in all shapes and sizes and can appear anywhere you frequent online. You can join a facebook group (free) and the founder will often be seen as a mentor to members within the group, happily disseminating knowledge, offering advice and answering questions. Of course, their doing so might not be completely altruistic in that they will be building their group and brand but, nevertheless, it needn't cost a penny.
The beauty of living in a free(ish) world is that we have choices but they always come with caveats.
Do your due diligence and if something looks a good fit for you go for it. If not, trust your instincts and let it pass.

Very well said, Mark!

👍👍😎

Thank you Jeff, you are too kind!

Hi Mark - Thank you for the detailed explanation. I can "see" the high ticket idea well but it was the tie in with mentors that got me confused, it seems as if I was just reading the post and seeing something that wasn't there!
Again many thanks
Mike

High ticket offers often come with mentorship as part of its attraction Mike but they are not inextricably linked.

You could sign up to a high ticket product and get yourself a mentor from elsewhere or not at all but a lot of MMO high ticket offers are promoted by guru type characters who offer themselves up as mentors but in reality are just sales people.

In case you didn't see it before.....

An awful lot of unsuspecting people bought into the "mentorship" idea of this high ticket "product" and a high proportion of them got very heavily burned.

Mark

Thank you Mark, I find this really interesting and appreciate your input.
Off to have a read!
Mike

No problem Mike, I hope you get some insight into the sort of stuff that's been doing the rounds for years.
Mark

A high ticket sale is an expensive product with high commission rates. For example if you sold a £2,000 product with 10% commission, you'd get £200. A mentor doesn't have to cost you money, though many will charge for their services

Great explanation, Kathy!

Thanks Jeff:)

Ok - That makes total sense Kathy.
Thank you - Mike
